Loaded on my server - we'll see tonight...

Loaded S6.0.0 onto my server that runs my year round landscape lighting show - so it will run a live show this evening (I hope).

Computer:  Dell R710 server with dual Xeon L5520s running Windows Server 2019 Essentials with 48GB RAM and ~ 400GB free SSD disk space on C:\ where LOR program is stored & 2.1TB free disk space on D: drive where LOR files are stored.

Figured out that I need to import my existing shows, and took a while to realize that show scheduling all takes place on show editing - NOT on a show schedule page (as it ahs been in the past).  Is there no way to import an existing S5 schedule.  Also, with S5 you could save the schedule files with a new name so you could have several sets of schedules.  In my case, year round vs Halloween vs Christmas.  By simply renaming the schedule file names (in Windows Explorer), it was easy to make those changes without having to manually rebuild the schedule multiple times per year.

I found the "Show on Demand" button on the Play Shows tab and I like the Override Sequences function.

I am not getting a LOR light bulb in the system tray.

On the Networks tab, I found it interesting that it shows each IP address for my E1.31 controllers as a separate network, and detected that one of them is not on the network (correctly).

BTW, on the S6 download page, the "Alternate download link" is incorrect.  It just takes you to the same page you are already on.

Quick update - it worked.

I have a one minute sequence that slowly cycles a relay for one minute every morning (wipes the contacts since this relay does not carry current).  There is an indicator light next to the relay that I can see on one of my cameras.  The "show" with that one sequence ran a couple minutes ago, and I could see the indicator light slowly flashing.

Just at a quick glance this morning, I suspect the playback file creation has been simplified, as i only see one file being created for each sequence, a Loredit.Lorplay.

At very least they will need to be created at showtime. Also miss the tray icon as a quick glance status check and launch menu, but I expect I will adjust.

I will be playing around with miip later to see how that goes.

The show player is scrambling my DMX heads, but they are fine in Sequencer. Probable bug report incoming.

The new control panel will let you setup a Halloween, Christmas, and other shows even when the scheduled times overlap so you don't have to keep swapping out the schedule files or modifying your schedule for each season. You cannot have shows with overlapping schedules active at the same time but multiple shows can be active as long as their schedules don't overlap.

So on the create shows page and the scheduling tab in the edit show window, there is a toggle button for switching between active and inactive. So at Halloween time, your Halloween show would be active and your Christmas show inactive. Then in November, you can set both shows to be inactive, followed by setting your Christmas show to be active once you want it to start.

Yea, a different way to do it, but I do believe that would work.

Warning, I am going to use S5 terminology here.  In the image below, the two green arrows indicate the weekly scheduled (every night) evening and overnight landscape lighting shows.  The red arrow indicates a calendar entry for my 4th of July show.  The times appear to conflict, but at least in S5 the calendar entry would preempt the weekly schedule.  There is no indication here that the 4th of July show will preempt the two landscape lighting shows.

In case the images don't show, there are direct links to each one.

Problem.  Evening show ran for a short while and then kept erroring.  This show has exactly one 4:00 sequence that has a couple hundred channels that are completely static.  This extract from the player log shows what is happening.

Exited S6, and restarted.  Enabled the show player and it came up working fine (at least so far).  One odd error message in line 4.  No idea what file it was trying to create the playback for.

It made it through the night without failing after the above posted restart...

Thanks for the update. The sequence error you encountered is Windows Media Player related (See https://www.errorvault.com/en/troubleshooting/runtime-errors/microsoft/windows-media-player/error-0xc00d11b1_media-player-error-0xc00d11b1), but not sure why it had an error. Did any Window Updates or driver updates happen around that time?

The odd player log message on line 4 for playback is odd.  Do you happen to have a non-zero delay set in your 4th of July show's main playlist?

Thanks for the info Jeremiah.  No, no updates that I am aware of.  Should not have been.  No, zero delay for everything.

Below are some log extracts, but I first need to explain this part of the show schedule.

1600 - 2200 Landscape evening show (weekly schedule - to use an S5 term)  Starts on a trigger when it gets dark

1600 - 0600 4th of July show (calendar entry - to use the S5 term)  Starts on a trigger when it gets dark

2200 - 0700 Landscape overnight show (weekly schedule)

Because it is a calendar event, the 4th of July show should preempt the landscaping shows, except for the last hour of the overnight landscaping show - which it did.

However, at 0600 I would have expected the 4th of July show to end, but it should have allowed the currently playing musical sequence to finish - which it did not, it shut it down immediately.

The creating playback files was expected since the overnight sequences had not played under S6, however again, there is the error for no filename.

Show failed last night.  Unfortunately I have very little detail - but I do have one question.  Here is what I do know.  As background, I crew on a professional fireworks show, so I was not home, and quite busy all evening.  After we were all completed with packing up the show, several of us went to dinner.  I pulled up one of my security cameras looking at my front yard and was surprised to find it dark.  The show schedule is as follows on weeknights:

1600 - 2200  Year round evening (starts on a trigger when it gets dark)

2200 - 0700  Year round overnight (shuts down on a trigger when the sun comes up)

1700 - 0600  4th of July show (calendar show that preempts the year round shows 28 June - 5 July.  Starts on a trigger when it gets dark)

This has been working all week.

To troubleshoot, I first attempted to connect using the LOR app on my phone.  Unable to connect

Next up was to use TeamViewer to remote into the show computer (my server).  I will point out that TeamViewer  (or VNC) to a desktop computer from a phone is a pain at best, but it is functional - and I was WAY to tired to want to go out to the truck to get my laptop.  I found that S6 was running and it said that it was running the 4th of July Show, but no sequences were running.  I tried stopping the current show with the stop button at the top of the Current Show with the intent of stopping and re-starting.  Stop worked, but what it appeared to do was modify the show schedule so that the stop time was 1223 AM (when I stopped it), and there was nothing I could find to restart the show.  The Create Shows tab showed the the correct times as listed above, but there was nothing I could find to get anything to run (including running the 4th of July show as a Show on demand).  As I understand it, since the 4th of July show was no longer in it's time window, the Year Round overnight show show have run - it did not.  Finally I just exited S6, and restarted the Control Panel.  That reset everything and the 4th of July show correctly started up.  Unfortunately exiting and restarting S6 zeros the Player log, so I have no log data prior to that.

So my one question is after I stopped the currently running show, how do I get ANYTHING running again without exiting the CP and restarting it.?

Excellent question. As you discovered, one way is restarting and the other way is opening the show and just hitting save without really changing anything. Both are not obvious and frankly not desirable either.  But I think to take a step back, is what is the desirable function of Stop and how that can interact with the Disable Player button.

If an on-demand show is running, stop can be used to stop that and go back to the scheduled show.
image.thumb.png.03cddca373305a1c4a05ac61e41c3312.png

But if you hit stop on a scheduled show, should it stop the schedule all together (currently Disable Player behavior) or just stop the show running in the current time slot. Right now it does the latter, but in doing so, there definitely is not a great way to start it back up again.

I think displaying the stopped show in the Current Show section as being stopped (perhaps styled to look disabled/ghosted as well) along with the play button showing would be a more desirable way of knowing you have a stopped show that could be restarted by hitting play. Does this sound reasonable?

Updated to 6.0.2  and show failed to start - Player log showed it was waiting for the startup trigger.  Exited S6, restarted CP and the show started right away.
