I currently use all leds and have 3 controllers. I want to get in to pixels and bought the pixie8 controller. What software do i need and how do i put my LED sequences with my pixels or vice versa

You just need to bump your license to Pro (to be able to run the Pixie 8 controller which uses 8 ID's.

The rest is just how you define the Prop.

Also, to avoid confusion: Each smart output is a PORT  (the port consumes the ID), as each RGB NODE is 3 channels (a string of 100 nodes is 300 Channels)

What prop(s) will you be lighting with the Pixie8?

If your first 3 AC controllers are unit IDs 1,2,3 your pixie8 can start with 4 and use 4,5,6,7,8,9,0A and 0B. Or you could do like many and start it with 10 and keep it easy 10,11,12,13,14,15,16 and 17.

I prefer mine to be in succession and not skip but its because I have so many of them and I am used to the hexadecimal system.

I'm one who leave gaps (for growth)

I started with Pixie 4 controllers. I added another prop at a location  (surrounded by concrete) and needed another port, Un bolt the Pixie4 board, and replace it with a Pixie 8 (same base ID as the old, gave the old board a new ID)

No sequence change needed for existing stuff.

Another consideration, is to just use Standard LOR (sequence store) ID's if you might use some of those.

Whatever you do. Keep Notes, Label the controller boxes  (I use CG1500 that have multiple DC controllers inside).
