gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Good evening all, I am try to run 4 sequences I ran last year in my show but for some reason they will play but not trigger the lights properly. They play the music and some of the light on each prop come on but not in the correct order or the correct colors, timing, etc. and none of the motion effects are there. I had something like this happen last year but I cant for the life of me remember what the heck I did to fix it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Setup info: using a pc as the controller, using RS485 adapter, running 3 PixieCon16 controllers all on the same network.

Need to determine which one you have, Thank you JR
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks for the reply JR, the photo I took was too big to attach but the controllers are PIXIE16D - V2

Also that is a very old version of S5, I am by no means telling you to update but it may be worth a shot if nothing else works. 3 pixie16's how many pixels total? JR
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 In this case not copying, literally just loading the sequences from last year using the Simple Show Builder and telling it to Enable the show. I did have the thought that it is a very old version of S5 and it may need to be updated but time got away from me and didnt get a chance...might have to bite the bullet and try that. 3 pixie16s running a total of 3100 pixels. none of controllers are maxed out channel wise and none of the channels are powering more that 100 pixels.

But your Network is far beyond max pixels recommended per network. LOR recommends no more than 2400 per network @ 500K enhanced. I never go beyond 1600 per network I would use my computer to run the show this late in the year and separating some controllers before updating but thats your call. JR
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks for the knowledge. I have never looked up the pixel load per network and just thought 100 per channel would be within range. My thinking was that as long as I didnt need power injection and all the same controller type running 1000K network that it would be fine, that doesnt appear to the be the case. Whats weird is it worked fine last year with more pixels once I got it to work. This one almost fills like a preview issue but, again, it worked last year so not sure what to think. I appreciate you letting be try to talk to through it and giving me ideas.

Sorry I had missed that they are all the same on the network. What are their FW versions? JR Edited December 13, 2021 by dibblejr
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Nothing but the Pixies on the 1000K network. Not sure what firmware will have to check.
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 i have to admit, i dont know to identify what firmware is running on the controllers. I checked the Hardware utility where I thought it would be, but that firmware button is apparently for firmware updates. I did click on upload button thinking it would take me to the folder the firmware lived in; that did show one that looked like it could be right which was CTB16D_Blue_4_32.lhx there is also a CTB16D_Green_4_32.lhx so maybe firmware version 4.32?
TheDucks Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) It is on the FOUND list of controllers in HU ID - controller type - FW Edited December 13, 2021 by TheDucks
gstigall Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Oh wow! I feel stupid. In that case it they are running 1.01
TheDucks Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 28 minutes ago, gstigall said: Oh wow! I feel stupid. In that case it they are running 1.01 You will need to go to the LOR download page and get the CORRECT ones for your model, then put those into the FIRMWARE folder found at (my logins) documents: Light-O-Rama
gstigall Posted December 14, 2021 Author Posted December 14, 2021 Just to check TheDucks, you mentioned correct ones; do I need both the Pixie16D firmware and the RS485 driver as well? And should I go with 1.07?
TheDucks Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 AFAIK the driver has not changed. so just the Pixie16 FW (assume you have a Pixie 16) (That note at the bottom seems a bit odd until I visited the download page and saw it had another line. My Pixie4's and 8 are all running above 1.04 )
