Roake light show
Hi, I have been using S4 for a few years for AC controllers both LOR and DMX third party hardware and this year I purchased some new sequences from WOW lights and the file type would not open with S4 (loredit file) so I was forced to upgrade to S5 which might as well be from a different manufacturer as it is radically different. S4 had an option to export the channel configuration and import it to the other sequences in the sequence editor (LCC file). I am not finding a way to import my channel layout from the other sequences to anything in S5 and it would take several hours to open every sequence and edit the channel configuration for each channel in each sequence. I Doubt that I am the first to ask or need to do this and hope that someone can point me to a tutorial or a quick explanation. TIA
Don
The Preview is the LCC equivalent in S5. When creating a new sequence, just select the Preview you used in the first one.
Orville
REMOVED BY ORIGINAL POSTER. DON'T EVEN ASK. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG HERE, BUT SOME FOLKS JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND MY METHODS. And that's all I'm saying on why this was deleted by ME! Edited November 20, 2021 by Orville
Aubrey
I'm actually going to say the opposite and tell you that S5 is REALLY not that different when you're just trying to open and use pre-programmed sequences. Sequencing honestly isn't that different either once you realized it's just a few buttons that moved around. Here's my playlist specifically dedicated to upgrading from S4. Take a look, and make sure to also watch the Grid Configurations video once you look at the basics of upgrading since it's going to solve your problem. People like to claim upgrading is harder than it actually is - don't let them scare you into staying on S4!

The S5 version will be on top, but if you look down the page a little you can still find the S4 version to download. (At least they are showing under my account that way) You also could technically open them up in S5 and export them to .lms files, but you really should take the plunge to S5. My understanding is LOR is moving away from the channel level programming and moving towards effects based programming. This will allow you to copy programming from one prop to another prop without requiring an exact pixel count match. It doesn't matter if you have a 16 strings of 50 pixels mega-tree or a 20 strings of 100 pixels tree, you can apply the same programming to either tree. I do remember there being a little bit of a learning curve converting from S4 to S5, but also that I was very happy I migrated once I got everything working. I understand the "I am going to wait until next season to upgrade", but lets face it... once the season is over your not going to be motivated to upgrade until next year.... rinse and repeat. Make the plunge and you will then be highly motivated to get it working. Edited November 20, 2021 by jond
TheSignGuy
Personally, once I moved to S5 Pro (from S4 advanced) everything was so much easier to configure and sequence. Yes, there is a little learning curve but once you get the basics of S5 the process is pretty easy. I use AC, Dumb and Smart pixels in my display and I find it's faster to sequence songs over S4. Roake light show
Thank you everyone for the quick response. Moving to S5 is definitely not something I have time for since I am helping a friend add a couple sequences to his show while still working on my own. Had I known about this earlier in the year, I would have made the effort to learn S5 for this season but it is too late right now. I will come back to this once this season is running (I promise) but for now thank you Jond for pointing out that I did not scroll down far enough to see the the S4 LMS sequences in WOW lights. k6ccc
After your 2021 show is taken down, then start learning S5. That will give you all year to learn it.
tlogan
I didn't have any problem opening WOW lights s$ sequences in S5. If you are just wanting to get S5 going and not making any changes to your lighting props, S5 will create a default preview when opening/converting the S4 sequence to S5. Then next year you can work on creating the Preview you REALLY want. Once you figured out the Preview in S%, sequencing in S5 becomes MUCH easier.
