fireman2028
Hey Everyone! We used to run a show years ago( 2008-2010 roughly) and have some of the old D-light boxes and one of the Old LOR boxes. Does the New software work with these older boxes? Also any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated with using the Software as it has been a few years since we have set up and we are trying to remember how everything connects/works haha. Thanks for all the help.
Orville
The new software should work with any LOR hardware or any that is LOR compatible. I haven't learned S5 as yet, will do that in Jan. 2022, due to the huge differences between the older software the newer S5 version is totally a full new ball game in how things are done. But it will still work with the older LOR controllers and compatible LOR hardware. I'm still using 3 of my original CTB16PC Controllers from 2010 in my display. Don
Fireman, I'm not sure Orville was around the DLight days. The Dlight controllers wouldn't be able to handle the enhanced LOR network. They might not be able to handle some of the things that S3 came out with. I forget when Darryl stopped updating them, etc.
Orville
That's why I stated "LOR Compatible" hardware. I started investigating the LOR stuff in late 2009 and bought my 1st "used" LOR Controller near the end of 2009, maybe early 2010, and that's when I also started purchasing other controllers, original DC-MP3 Director and the Software License, only had up to Advanced License Level when I first got into this hobby. I don't recall the exact version of the software I started with, just remember it was the 2.x.x series of the software, I think it might have been 2.7.6 if I remember correctly. I know at the time DLight was still around, as I do seem to recall info being around on them when I first entered this hobby. I just never used or owned any. I've always stuck with LOR Hardware. basis21b
There was a thread earlier this year where a similar question was asked. One of the people responding indicated that D-Light controllers were still active in their display. The thread is here.
fireman2028
Hey thanks everyone for the responses and for sharing that thread. I will definitely be looking at it. Hopefully the new software will be able to run the older boxes. Out of curiosity why did Darryl stop updating/designing the boxes? Did he get bought out or something?
