randy88cougar
need help. in s4 i was able to have to programs open in SE at one time. I then was able to add a new channel to sequence 1 then go to sequence 2 copy said channel and then paste to sequence 1 . is this feature still possible and if so how. also my end goal is i have a preview made in s5 that has a 12x50 matrix in it that is set to a sequence i made in s5. i want to bring in a new sequence same song but a matrix to its preview i.e. i want to add matrix and channels to the s4 sequence. so to be clear i made a sequnce in s5 with a 12x50 matrix and i want to add matrix to an s4 sequence i made last year. is this possible and can anyone point me in the right direction. any help would be greatly appreciated

Steven
In S4 each sequence had its own set of channels, which could be different for each sequence. In S5 the channels are not conceptually in the sequence, but are in the Preview, and each sequence points to the Preview that it's going to use. I assume your Preview includes the matrix and all the other channels. When you open your S4 sequence with S5, it will go through the import procedure where it asks you which preview you want to use. You will select your current preview. Now you will have 2 S5 sequences. Both will use the same preview, but one will have effects in the matrix, and the other will have effects in the other channels. Now you can simply copy and paste the effects from one sequence to the other, and end up with a sequence that has all the effects you want.
randy88cougar
thank you. i got it now. i have one issue left. in my confusion i started making a SS effect sequence for my matrix in S5 and somehow i shortened the length of the song to 2:20 when song is 3:40. does anyone know if and how I can extend the length of the SS effect back to 3:40 i have tried copy and pasting a full length sequence in. However when i go back into the SS effect it still stops at 2:

However when i go back into the SS effect it still stops at 2:20 Did you actually shorten the song (in Sequencer) or is the SuperStar Effect only part of the song? I'm assuming the latter. There is an easy way to drag the length of the "Insert SuperStar Effect" length. It is the "Drag Edges" button. Select the button pointed out with the Red arrow below. For these screen captures, I have imbedded them in this post, but if you are using certain browsers, you wont see the images. Therefore, I have included a link to each image as well. http://www.newburghlights.org/images/Drag_edges-1.png After you do that, every Motion Effect and SuperStar Effects bar will have a small yellow above red symbol at each end of bar as pointed out with the yellow arrow. http://www.newburghlights.org/images/Drag_edges-2.png When you move the cursor over the end of the yellow over red symbol, you will get a vertical bar with arrows pointed both ways. Make sure you have the vertical bar with the arrows showing for your cursor (the target for it is somewhat small). You can then grab the end of the bar with the left mouse button and drag it to wherever you want to go. Release the left mouse button and then when completed, un-select the Drag Edges icon at the top. http://www.newburghlights.org/images/Drag_edges-3.png
Steven
In the Sequencer, when you double-click on the SS effect and it launches SuperStar, does it give you a warning that the audio file is too short for the effects and thus some effects won't be seen? If that is the case, then the effects are still there, you just need to lengthen the effect in the Sequencer. To do this, you can enable drag edges and drag the right edge from 2:20 to 3:40, or use the "Repeat" tool to lengthen the effect. A screenshot of your Sequencer, showing the SS effect at about 2:20 would help diagnose this. Edit: Just read what @k6ccc said above. Steven
We've gone through the same thing. At first, it seemed that S5 was too complicated and didn't fit my display, but after many months of using it, I finally started liking it more than S4. The biggest conversion issue for me was that I didn't use a visualization for S4, since I figured I knew where all the channels were in my head. S5 forces you to make a preview, so I figured I might as well do it right. Now that's done, it makes sequencing easier.

Orville
Just starting learning {trying to learn} S5 5.6.4 on my new Win 10 system. Can anyone tell me if the videos Aubrey created are downloadable to watch on your own system? Seems videos just don't like playing on either of my machines on-line, so if I can download them and watch them off-line, that'd be a great help too me! I'll still be using S4 for my 2021 Christmas Show {4.4.16 Pro}, but hoping by next year, I'll have figured out and converted all my sequences to S5. But I'd sure love to watch the tutorial videos off-line, trying to watch them on-line, they just lock-up, freeze and hang, as well as skip over parts, making them unusable for me on-line. So if I can download them, then I'l be able to watch them when I need information on how something may work. Currently, because I can't watch the tutorial videos on-line, I have a lot of questions on how things work and are done in S5 that perhpas one of these videos may answer. Thanks everyone. If you have a Vis or animator in S5 even easier. JR

My tutorials are not available offline. Unfortunately since they're hosted on my computer, there's no other way for me to make them available to others without using the internet at some point in the process.
