New to s5. Lights not working

Nails Family Christmas

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded to s5 this year with superstar addon. I am only using traditional lights this year. I've several problems and gotten help from LOR folks to get to this point. I set up some new sequences this year. Everything is working in the hardware utility. When I go to start a show for a test run, I hear the music, but the lights are not coming on. Do the sequences need to be saved in a certain file format and location? I am at the point of crying now. I am 9 days late on my regular season beginning and have done everything I know to do. PLEASE, someone give me a direction to work in.

I only see one ticket in there for you. It was about licenses.

How are you running the show? Mini Director? Showtime Director? Computer?
When the show is playing are the status lights solid or blinking?

Yes, my license issues were handled. Then I had to order a new 485 adapter. Now I am using a PC and cat5 to 3 residential 16 channels boxes. Everything works with the hardware utility. I think it may be my sequences. I hear them playing, but the lights are not coming on. I just found something about the sequence compressor. I have not upgraded anything until this year. It's been 10 years since I started fresh. LOL A bit rusty with the software stuff. Do I need to compress all my sequences with the new software?

I haven't looked. I can run show and check it. Stand by for update.

All 3 boxes have solid indicator lights on the boards

I'd also be checking to make sure that the ID's you used in the Preview match the ones that are actually in your display.

unit ids are 01, 02, and 03. The hardware did find all 3 units during setup

And what are your sequences set to?

i assumed they were set up on the same default as the units in order. How do I check that? Sorry for my ignorance.

This is probably not your issue but you will need to properly create your playback files.. You should add the sequence loredit files to a show in show editor and save it.

Open Sequence Compressor in the Control Panel right click menu and select that show in the compress an entire show section.

When it completes it will have created the proper files in a hidden folder to use in the show. The show player can do this but the first pass will be very slow.

I'm trying this now. It said only 2 were compressed.

This has to be something 'basic' that's just getting missed.

If you are positive that the Controller ID's match what you have in the preview

  1. Close ALL LOR programs. (Make sure you 'Unload LOR' if you have the Control Panel Running.)
  2. Open Sequencer. Create new Animation. Make it 5 minutes long or so.
  3. Choose the Preview that you know (or think) is good.
  4. Observe. Do you have a yellow light bulb in the lower/right part of the screen?
  5. Hit Play in the Sequencer. No, you have no events yet. This is on purpose. Go look at the controllers. Indicator flashing or solid. Assuming solid
  6. Now turn all the channels in your Sequence to On.
  7. Hit Play - Do the lights come on?

If you haven't already, go ahead and re-install the RS485 drivers.
