tlogan
HI all - I haven't found an answer to my question. It seems pretty simple, but a confirmation from one of you that have used an ELL... I currently run most of my show off of a Regular Network using a USB485B. My question, is, can I simply plug the ELL into the second port on the USB485B? I've set the unit on the other end of the ELL to different number, just to avoid any confusion there. Thanks in advance!
PhilMassey
Seems like that is what I used to do, but it's been a long time.
tlogan
Thanks! I'll give it a try. Only way to find out, huh?
radioguy1007
Yes you can plug the ELL into the second port of the USB485B. Not quite sure what you are saying about the other end ELL to a different number. The ELL pair must share the same channel number and speed setting or they will not work. The controller plugged into the receiving end ELL must be set to a unique address on your network, as the ELL acts as if it is a wired connection. tlogan
I meant the unit number of the controller that will be at the other end. I wanted to rule out any channel conflicts. The receiver ELL will be on the same channel as the sender.
hasslerk
The ELL is like any other LOR controller in that it has two ports on the inside so it can be daisy chained in like any other controller. In my setup, my regular network line comes out the director and goes to one port of the ELL, with the other port going to an AC controller and so on. Out in the yard, I actually logically used the ELL as a "Y", in that there are daisy chained controllers hanging off both ports and ending in dead ends on both chains. dgrant
The ELL receives its power from either a controller on the outside or a "powered" LOR usb adapter. A regular adapter will not work.
