LBE
Hi everyone. I'm hoping I could get your help. I have a simple display I set up for our community in Jacksonville Beach - Deck the Chairs. It's a 4 "tree" set up with 32 total channels. I have used the same Basic light o Rama software for last 4 years. I have always used sequence editor without issue and then simply use the simple show creater to download the 6 song show to a SD card. I use a mini director module with the lights and put the SD card in. That's been my pattern for the last 4 years of shows for our community. However, this year I went to download the show through simple show creater and it's only downloading the MP3 file and a short associated SEQ file that is only 6-25k long. This doesn't work and I have no idea why the whole show and sequence isn't downloading to the SD card anymore. The community show started tonight but sadly our display is using last years SD card show and none of my improvements for this year :<. Please help if your can. k6ccc
I want to make sure I know what you are doing. Note, that I have never used a director of any sort, so I am not exactly the expert on that part - but I will give a little try... Your profile shows that you are using S5. You said you used the Simple Show Creater (actually it was Simple Show Builder), however the SSB no longer exists in S5 and has been replaced with the Hub. Second is that you said that it is downloading the .mp3 and a seq file. There is no .seq files extension in LOR. So I'm a little confused. Am I missing something here? At least you had a SD card with last years show on it! Better than nothing.
Don
Jim, the .SEQ files are what is written to the SD card. Lee, I would go to the Show Editor and build your show there. Why? You will be alerted if there are any errors with the sequence and/or media file. My hunch is that something with the sequences and media isn't lining up. As I said, I have never used a director (never even seen one). I would agree with using the Show Editor.

LBE
Ive never saved a show from show editor. What files do I bring over to the SD card to use on the director?
LBE
I went to show editor 4.3.18 basic plus. I added the 6 files into the musical sequences using the "+". What do I do next? The sequences work great on sequence editor
Don
As I mentioned in my first reply, you are creating the show in the Show Editor to see what problems might be there. You don't copy them to the SD card. If I understand you correctly, you created a show with the Show Editor, and no errors were found, correct? My next suggestion would be to create a via the Hardware Utility -> MP3 tab. Btw, your profile says you are on 5.5.16, but you mention you are using 4.3.18. Thus I'm going to make this for 4.3.18. If you are using S5 .. then don't try this. Open the Hardware Utility and click on the MP3 tab. When show plays: Anytime it has power How show plays: Loop Continuously Place ONE musical sequence in the MP3 Player Showlist section. Just ONE. Then create the show. Did that show write to the SD card? If so, repeat the process and add a second song. What's the exact brand/style/speed of the SD card you are using? Need more than just the brand and size. LBE
So I followed the steps mentioned using hardware utility. took a little bit to download to the SD card. When I open up the SD card file it only lists 3 files on it: s1 config.cfg 1kb s1 file01 mps format sound 5192 kb s1 file01.seq. 11kb This is similar to what I was getting before. Is it possible it is not going to the right place to find the sequence?
LBE
I can go back through the sequence editor to find that the files (lms file, bak file, las file, lsv file) are filed under documents -> lightorama -> sequences. Can I just copy and paste one of these files onto the SD card to get it going? So thankful for your help. I do a show for the community in Jacksonville Beach which started tonight. I wasn't expecting these snafu's at the last minute
Don
For one sequence, that looks right. The CFG file controls when the show runs. The SEQ and MP3 for the sequence are there. It's the same song you picked from before, right? It only goes to the location you picked the sequence from. So if you chose it from "Sequences" then it goes to your "Sequences" directory. However, if you chose it from "Sequence2020-001" then it goes to Sequence2020-001. Did you attempt to run the SD card in the Director after it was done? If you have, and the show/sequence doesn't play, you might need the help desk folks to chime in on this one.
LBE
The display is already up in the public park so I can't try the new SD card until tomorrow evening when the power for the displays goes back on. I guess I was just surprised because I assume the MP3 file is large at >5000 kb and the seq file is so small at only 11 kb. Made me think it wasn't downloading the whole sequence instructions. LBE
If I were to upgrade to S5 software on a new computer to get rid of the older slower computer. What are the files that I would need to bring over to the new computer to make a show from my old programs?

The .SEQ files ARE usually always smaller than their associated MP3 file. I have sequences that might only be 4K in size, but the associated MP3 file could be 1GB in size, depending on length and bit rate used. Never worry too much about the file sizes, if you do, you'll pull your hair out thinking something is wrong, when the fact is, everything is as it should be. SD Card files ARE definitely NOT the same as those used when doing a show by computer, each has their own specific way of coding to get the show up and running. Normally (unless you did not use the defaults), there will be a LightORama directory under My Documents. That normally has everything that you need to move. You MAY still have to go into each sequence and re-assign the audio file (because Microsoft changes the directory structure with almost every release of Windows). Note, I may have the exact wording of the directory wrong, but that is close. I am not using the default on mine, so I could not just look at it (I'm using a mapped network drive from my file server).
