Pixie16d port 12 stays on

My pixie16d has port 12 staying on.  I have tried the rest on the board.  Port stays on even when i'm in the hardware utility and when i'm running test.   Do I need to reload the firmware.

Thanks Jason

Pixies ports are Data streams (The +12 is always on).

Move the STRING to another port and see if it still stays on.

OTOH if you had a CMB24 (DUMB RGB) and one color stayed on, that would be a bad Mosfet

ok will check that when i get home.

Did you build this (attach the connectors)? Check the Data wire is in the correct slot AND the insulation is NOT under/in the clamp

The Ducks

I moved the light string from port 12 a couple of others and lights would stay on.  I put the other string on port twelve and the lights where out.   Since doing this port 15 has a section of lights staying on now.   Is the light strings bad.  they are brand new.

If the problem moves with the strings, then it is a string problem.  One of the more common failure mode of 2811 pixels is that all pixels downstream of the bad pixel are either dead or full white.

Try a factory reset.

1- Plug unit in

2- Status Indicator solid or flashin (doesntt matter) push the white button and continue to push it

3- Continue pushing button- unplug

4- Cotinue pushing button - plug in and when the unit flashes release the button

Test again

New pixels will sometimes be bad.

However since you built the controller yourself I am thinking you may have also wired the pixels. If you did check your wires.

Update us once you do the factory reset and test.

i have tried the reset a couple of times no improvement.   there is 100 pix on each port.  port 12 all the pixils are on except the first one.   on port 12 the last 33 or 34 are on.  i also updated the firmware from 1.04 to 1.06.

Is that during a show or only a HU test?

How many other controllers do you have?

How many other controllers are on that network?

Did you buy the pixels with pigtails or did you do the work?

Check the green connector on that strand to ensure 1- the wires are seated properly and not under the metal plate they get sandwiched between and 2- no strands touching another wire.

Do you have a new string or strip that you can test with. Earlier you said you swapped ports and the problem went with it, if I recall. If that is the case its lights or that connector.

thanks for your help    I did swap pig tails and the lights stayed on.   I have come to the conclusion it is the light string.  i ordered two new strings.  should have them in a couple of days.  will let you know what happens.   I do have 22 controllers on my Aux A  network.    I bought the light strings from holidaycoro with their pigtails.  i did reinsall the wires to the green connector and reseated them on the board.  The lights stay on all the time in test except pixle 1 and during the show they did not work at all except pixle 1.

I bet Pixel 1 's output is Bad on the string. If out of warranty, just chop it out  and splice the old pigtail onto the former Node 2 (will now be Node 1)

Different issue: 22 PIXIES on a single Red Network  :o   (Maybe, if they were all Pixie 2 )

i will try that

I changed my mind a bit.

Can you make Pix 1 turn on using HU? It becomes a cr*p shoot: Bad out Pix 1 or Bad in Pix 2  .

(so far I have batted 500 on my fails. Only, mine have been No Lights. Stuck color is easy: The node)

I got new strands today put them on and works ok.  No port 13 is staying on partial the last 36 nodes stuck on blue.  can run a test from HU and will run pattern but when it gets to the blue lights they just stay blue.  tried the rest.  I guess i got a batch of bad strands.
