Gary N Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 I have noticed the last few years my white LED lights are getting dull or dime. Old and newer ones are getting dimmer, but only the white ones. I do not see it in any fading out of the red or green lights. all my leds are sealed construction and full wave length. Would anyone have any ideas why, or a fix? Gary
dgrant Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 If I have to guess, I'm thinking that the sun is causing yellowing of the led covering. Because the frequency of the lights, the red, greens and blues are being impacted but not as noticeable as the white light.
Gary N Posted October 26, 2020 Author Posted October 26, 2020 There is some yellowing of the lense no doubt, but there is a noticeable difference in the brightness of some of the sets. Gary
dgrant Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 How many sets are plugged into each other? I'm wondering about the need or not, to inject power.
Gary N Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 No more then 12 sets normally, its the sets themselves, I mix the bright ones with the dull one now, to give a little balance.
dgrant Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Are they of the same manufacturer and same batch? Sorry, before I got off on a tangent as such thinking about RGB intelligent LED's. If you have different batches, different manufacturers, they each have their own specifications when they were designed. Even on intelligent led's such as the 24x50 matrix I have outside right now, each strip, when on white, comparing all 24 strips at the same time, some are slightly different so I'm thinking that standard led sets are similar...slightly different. Could be different full wave rectifiers or the quality of the rectifiers. Could be the filtering capacitors built into the power supply portion with the rectifier/diodes.
