24x50 Matrix using pixels?

Ok, want to add something new to the display this year and had a few questions. Was thinking of adding a 24x50 pixel matrix. My question is what will I need? I saw on holiday sequences, it says their sequences are setup for 12x100 zig zag on the matrix. Can I get something like this then:

http://store.lightorama.com/12vbl16sqpip.html

Just use 12 of those strings?

I already have the 4 singing faces, and that pixel tree kit that LOR sells(smaller sized one- http://store.lightorama.com/copitrkit.html)

Let me know what hardware I would need to achieve a 24x50 matrix and make it display the holiday sequences ones they sell, etc..

Thanks!!

I've not used a 100 count string before but I see no reason why you can't just loop it back therefore you obtain 12x50. I currently do a 24x50 for Halloween in which I do indeed loop or zig-zag back and forth. Works just fine. Now I'm using led strips instead and and they are glued to EMT and I'm using a Pixcon16 controller in E1.31 comm configuration.

Each port (cable) on the controller will drive 100 pixels (nodes). When you create the matrix Preview in the Sequencer, you define it as having 12 strings of 100 nodes and that each string is folded once. You tell it where the number 1 node is, and it sets up  all the channels. Save it and start creating sequences.

If you are speaking of a pixie controller, each port will control 170 nodes. It just needs to be configured as a pixcon16 during the configuration process. that is as easy as just looking at the pixie16 but for setup pretending it is a pixcon16. HU will find it as a pixie, give it a unit ID. Set up NP. Add "device" to the sequence. Device drop down select "pixcon16". give it the unit ID that was assigned as a pixie in HU and all is done.

Note though- in S4 under normal circumstances "zig zag" or "snake effect" will not work in a pixie controller.

In S5 you can create a custom prop "matrix in the OP's case" and get a pixie controller to zig zag

I was simply trying to state that pixies can control more than 100 nodes you just cant see it yet. I know LOR is working on that and one day it may get fixed but while beta testing this was my work around. Discovered by trial.

You will have no problems using HS's sequences in your 24X50 Matrix no matter how you configure the matrix or light string length. Strings of 100 or 50 can all be used. It all depends on your controller.

12X100 or 24X50 is all the same just a different config.

If you want additional info feel free to pm me and I can show you videos of my matrixes and tips.
