Running 5v off 12v

Can I run some 5v pixels by adding them at the end of a 12v string using a buck converter on the power lines but passing data straight through?

Maybe, but probably not. 😛

2 issues I foresee: 1) Current will be higher. 2) Line side hash (will affect the string it powers FROM. 100% Power injection (feeds buck only)

BUT WAIT! There are others that have nothing to do with the Buck.. Color order may be different. You can't mix on a port, let alone on a Pixie
