rgardner518
I want to do this to my how with standard low voltage lights. Then I got to thinking about getting LOR RGB floods and run those all year. Then I can use them for my display too. Here is an example. Not my home. My only beef is having a controller hooked up all year running off a computer. Sounds over engineered for the small task. But I'm trying that think about my display too. I can make them colored for say Halloween, 4th of July and Christmas. I can do all types of holidays or say all blue for autism awareness. So many possibilities. But if I just do standard low voltage white landscape lights. Can that transformer run off an LOR channel at Xmas time? Thanks for all of your help
Mr. P
You can use a CMB24D in stand alone mode, no need to have it connected to a computer. You load a sequence into the controller and program the sequence to run when powered on. Connect the controller to a timer or programmable wifi outlet and it will start and stop when scheduled. I have my landscape lights running this way.

The CMB24 could not keep the PIXIE fed data fast enough (and it was a really slow and dumb color shift)

rgardner518
Trying to upload pictures to this forum. I keep getting a "unable to complete last transaction due to low memory error message". But I can upload pictures anywhere else without issues. And the pictures are all under 100kb in sizes. Well ill just link them then like I did with the picture in my first post here. If I use these to wash my walls. I'm thinking maybe 6 i would need. What controller would I use?
Mr. P
It states the controller in your picture, CMB24D.
PhilMassey
The CMB 24 DC controller from LOR will run eight of those. More if you double up on ports up to the current limit of the port and or board. Edited July 25, 2020 by PhilMassey

PhilMassey
That would work if it were available though I don't think it has a standalone feature. The CMB 24 is it's bigger brother http://store.lightorama.com/cmdedcca3.html You will find all the LOR manuals here. http://www1.lightorama.com/documentation/ They have an 8 pack of floods and a CMB 24 package in the store. http://store.lightorama.com/10wrgbflinan.html

I bought 1 of the CMB16D with screw terminals. Its still new in box and I didn't get a chance to mess with it. I need to get someone to tell me if the updated firmware will work with the discontinued one, and what power supply should I buy to power 8 of the 10w RGB floods. My note is if you ALSO want to run a Pixie stand alone (then it should be the one loaded it will be master and the ONLY one loaded if it is a single 'show'. 2 loads, not interconnected, = 2 shows)

Add up your power (10W floods) usage. add 20% for a safety margin = 90W or greater. You can easily double the floods per channel. LOR even sells a 'Y' for their floods Double the power (180W) r or feed each bank from a separate 90W+ supply
PhilMassey
That will run a max of 20 10W floods, although for safety I would limit it to 80%, which is common safety margin in electrical stuff. You also have to consider the max Amps per port and per bank, which is 4A if I recall. Check the manual to be sure. Each controller has its own firmware. do not try and force between versions. The CMB 24 will probably add a feature or 2, but all the basics should play nice with the latest FW LOR has for the
rgardner518
Thanks for all everyones help so far. I guess I need to reach out to LOR to ask about updates to the CMB16D discontinued model. Too bad they don't read this and couldn't chime in. FW is a DIY for all that is listed here http://www1.lightorama.com/firmware-updates/ Yo use the HU to update (Best to ONLY HAVE 1 Board connected when doing).
