Anybody with W7, which goes end of life soon, this article might be of interest if you want a free upgrade to W10.

MSPoweruser: This is why you are still able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

Won't work on my system.  Keeps telling me my computer is incapable of running windows 10.   So I'm stuck at windows 7 on the system I have.

This is one of the reasons I dislike Microsoft, if they're going to make an upgrade, make sure it'll operate, even if LIMITED, on OLDER SYSTEMS.

My friend, it is no loss to not have Win10. I do know that Dell and Microsoft need to have a discussion about updates wrecking havoc on computers. It all but destroyed my Dell gaming laptop and is trying to do the same with my show Alienware (also Dell) laptop.

I wish my old computers didn't crash and I could still have Win7.

My current desktop is easily 6 years old, maybe 7. Runs windows 10 just fine.

Technology changes. More processing power is needed. MS or any other company isn't going to spend time making versions of software that very few people need. Doesnt make business sense for them to do so.

True, in all truth I would still prefer a DOS based system.  Ancient yes, but I never had issues with DOS like I have with some versions of Windows.

Good luck running graphics intensive apps and multitasking multiple processes in DOS.

Used to do it all the time before Windows killed off DOS.

My main problem with win10. The fact that it has to be linked to your email and it forces you to update. If you don't update things eventually start slowing down, programs functions become limited or will not open. And then there was the time just before Halloween when I booted my show computer on for the first time since New Years and the update crashed my .dll shell of framework, whatever you techies call it. I was forced to go from 4.3.18 to 4.4.4, that Is the only version that would load.

Correct.

I don't even have a Microsoft account, but they are making it harder and harder to find that checkbox.

I blame apple for requiring an "apple id" for their phones.

I tried that exact thing before and it didn’t work.

Something about Win10 pro verse my free   Version.

I got my version when it was being handed out like candy. I wish I never took it.

Unless ya'll write your own OS, it's something everyone will have to adapt to.

Make backups of your data, and upgrades wont be a concern. Sure, they are a pain if they leave your PC unusable,  but with backups, it doesnt matter.
