No Audio after Saving Sequence

Hello every one. I have been reading this forum for years now and never posted anything until now. I am amazed with everyone's help and input in the forum. I hope someone can help me. I have been on break from building sequences for a few months now and just started back up to put some new sequences together for this year. I hope I can explain my problem. First of all, I have LOR 2.0.16 and Windows XP. I have been sequencing for 4 years now. I have sequences that still work from last year and some completed earlier this year that still work, but now any new sequence I do has a problem. I am unable to hear music or open up the wave form after I save a new sequence. I am also unable to click on the media file to reload the audio file. I am able to work on the sequence in the beginning; but once I save and close the sequence, the problem starts. When I reopen it and play the sequence later I have no sound and no way to open up the media file. The waveform icon and media file selection are gray. I see the time line moving across the sequence. The animation is working fine. No music. This happens immediately. Once I save it and then reopen it- No sound. If I save one that works from earlier this year and reopen it - No music. I also downloaded V2 again to see if that was the problem - no success there. Thanks in advance...

Thanks,

Can you send a copy of the original as well? You could play the original when you opened it in the sequence editor correct?

Thanks

I will bet you have ran a registry cleaner lately! I had the same problem a while back after a registry cleaner removed some lines from my registry. The lines that were missing were:

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-1214440339-1659004503-725345543-1003SoftwareLight-O-RamaShared]
"UserDataPath" = "C:Documents and Settingsbeaker020My DocumentsLight-O-Rama"

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-1214440339-1659004503-725345543-1003SoftwareLight-O-RamaShared]
"AudioPath" = "C:Documents and Settingsbeaker020My DocumentsLight-O-RamaAudio"

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-1214440339-1659004503-725345543-1003SoftwareLight-O-RamaShared]
"NonAudioPath" = "C:Documents and Settingsbeaker020My DocumentsLight-O-RamaSequences"

Hopefully, if you did run a cleaner, you or the program made a backup of changes and the removed entries can be restored. (dont copy mine, it wont work for you)

If you open your sequence in a text editor and look at the second line, yours reads :

While a sample of mine reads :

If you manually add in the "musicfilename=" information it will work again but it will likely disappear again once you edit and save in the sequencer.

Check out this thread of when I had my problem http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/forum72/16812.html

Thanks,

I have sent an email to engineering and would like them to take a look at it. It may very well have something to do with the registry as breaker020 has mentioned but I would like us to understand what is happening so we can both fix it for you and hopefully make changes to the code to recognize the situation.

I looked into my registry and found the above pathways no longer exist,("UserDataPath", "AudioPath", and "NonAudioPath"). To fix this, would it just be easier to uninstall LOR and then reinstall it? or can I jump into the great abyss of the registry and see how much more trouble I can get into?

These are the only pathways in my registry for LORShared.

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-2780720920-1782255784-154007582-1005SoftwareLight-O-RamaSharedHardware]

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-2780720920-1782255784-154007582-1005SoftwareLight-O-RamaSharedHLD]

[HKEY_USERSS-1-5-21-2780720920-1782255784-154007582-1005SoftwareLight-O-RamaSharedNetwork]

Numbers maybe changed to protect the innocent.....

The easiest and safest way to get those registry entries back is to run the LORPost program, which can be found in your install directory (typically something like C:Program FilesLight-O-RamaLORPost.exe).

This will bring up a dialog that you've seen at least once before, when you installed - it will ask you where you want your Light-O-Rama data files stored. Just tell it the same directory that you previously used.

I took your suggestion Bob and it seems to be working now...Thanks

Now I can get back to what we all love doing. My wife thought she had her husband back; but thanks to you guys, she has more time for her self now.

Hmmm. Does she have the computer expertise to go into the registry and delete things? Or access to a child? :D
