I have used many of them and they do make a solid bond that is water tight. I recommend them to anyone who makes their own cables. Just make sure to get a heat gun. I first tried a hair dryer and it never got hot enough to melt the solder all the way. I only use the red and blue so I look around and buy the single color in mass when I can find them on sale. HC usually has them on sale in January.
