Ponddude
I made a little mistake in my design for this year. I placed my controllers in order of power and because of that they are all over my yard. My question here is, can I wire the controllers out of order? What I mean by this is instead of wiring it 1-2-3-4-5-6, can I put the controllers in a different order like 1-4-2-5-3-6? I honestly doesn't matter, however I would like to cut down on cat 5 cable, and this would help out.
Brad
My understanding is that they can go in any order. The cat5 passes the info right on through.
Donald Puryear
Brad is right, the order you plug the controllers in doesn't matter. Just the id numbers you assign them.
Dr. Jones
All above are correctThe rs485 signal "talks" to all the controllers and the controllers only "listen" to the commands that pertain to their ID. All the devices recieve all the instructions.I have had my display wired with controllers addressed in the Echo and Alpha range in between 2 and 3 with no problems
