dio32 how to power 12v relays on dio8rly board

have a dio32 main board, using 120v to power it, do i use a second power source (12v) to power the port that connect the ribbon to the relay board to turn relays off and on.?  solid red light comes, its connected. do  the jumpers after the transformer decide what voltage goes to the ports?
