shg
whats the difference between booted and non booted??
smjosephrn
I could be wrong but I believe that the only difference is that there is a rubber boot over the plastic clip at the ends of the CAT5 cable. Most commercial CAT5 has this booting. If you crimp yourself you will not have it.
Steve Saunders
I also read somewhere that the boot has to be removed when used in the Light Linkers. Seems that the boot will interfere with the cover when installed.
evan.a
the boots was started by lucent in the early 90s and other companys followed. it is ment to protect the tabs from bein snaged and breaking off. mostly when you remove a bunch of patch cords in a data center or patch panels. yes removing the boot when connecting to any controlers will help you remove it later. the boot doesn't like the cold and does harden.
