thebaronn Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Hello!I have yet another LED question. I have purchased many a LED strand here and there and have a question for others?Has anyone purchased the LEDs sold that require a Power Adapter?????The LEDs I purchased from HomeDepot, Walmart, Creative Displays all have a plug on it and are ready to plug in!But I saw these LEDs (they boast 125 end to end..........LOL, the most I did was 20 end to end and 3 piggy backed so 60 on the same outlet and they worked just fine) And they require a POWER ADAPTER? for $10??? So last year I had only 48 channels but I would need a separate power adapter for each channel?? So $500 just for power adapters????Am I missing something? Do these LEDs have huge differences that warrant this price gouging?Let me know your opinions!Thank youEric
Bowshock Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I'm talking myself into getting similar LEDs from http://www.ledholidaylighting.com/ledstringers.aspx. They still need an adapter but it sells for about $7 here.I'd like to know if they're really worth it.
ledlighting Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Hello saw the post so I thought I'd comment. The commercial sets which require the adapter are great because you can connect up to 125 sets end to end as well as you get the water tight seal at the end of each strand. For my City of Des Moines project this year we put up over 70,000 lights all with these commercial strands. The city ran them for 3 months 24x7 with no issues (not sure why 24x7 but they did). I took them all down last weekend and I did not have one bad set of strands. Very durable!Let me know if I can help with any other questions.Regards,Travis Fremminghttp://www.ledholidaylighting.com

I'm pretty sure I'll be placing an order in the next month or so (just waiting for the bonus).
medman2000 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 For what it is worth, I went to 90% LED last year, and actually purchased the full-wave commercial strings with adaptors. Not as many as an entire city (!!), but something like 500 strings - the Diogen brand - and the quality was tops. I will probably not get close to 125 strings end to end with the exception of one tree, but for the quality and ease of mind and flexibility I'm very happy with my purchase. The LED lights I purchased from Target sat in the storage box last year once I got these, and will again this year as I purchase more (your pre-order deadline is end of this month right?).medman2000
