mixnight
Hi there, I'm planning to install an outdoor enclosure/box right outside of the garage wall which is in brick and install the LOR controllers or inside or outside and run all the cables crossing the brick wall then to the box then to the controller or to each lights (if the controllers are inside of the garage), I know will be easy to install the controllers outside and only run a pair of power cables for the power of each controller (only two controllers and one sandevice) instead of run 32 power cables and 13 cat 5 for the RGBs, so my questions is what is the best empty outdoor enclosure/box that I can install outside of the garage? Thanks for the info
Marty Spain
I use NEMA R3 steel enclosures 10x10x 4 inches. These are the type designed for outdoor use. They are also the type used by LOR if you buy the pro models like the CTB 16 V6 controllers. You can use the plastic versions as well they have to keep water or snow out of them. I buy from a local electrical supply which specialize in these type enclosures. You may be able to get them from a home improvement center as well. I have 14 controllers all are the R3 type but 2 which are the OEM units from LOR. I build my own units using the DIY kits. Never had any issues with outside environment. I live in the Chicago area, so they see nasty cold and raining winter weather since 2006 sice I started using LOR products. Good luck ! jerry72
Check out the CG series of enclosures. The guys over at Diyledexpress sell them at a very good price. It is what all my controllers, PSU's and command center are in. I have 21 of them, have no complaints.
lightzilla
Or you can use a waterproof Stanley Fat Max Tool Box (with the yellow strip) You can stick all three controllers into that tool box then make openings for the wires. Use elbows or something that the wire can come out of & have them facing down so water can't get in.
