The RGB Ribbon's you are (probably) referring to are 'dumb' in that they can only display a single color at a time. Pick any color you want, but the entire ribbon will be that color. You can get these anywhere and run them off of the CMB24-D. The Cosmic Color Ribbon's are 'smart' in that they can have multiple colors at once on the strip. Pick any color, any design, it can do it. Cosmic Color Ribbon's (CCR's) are available from Light-O-Rama or one of it's Partners. Are there other places you can get 'smart' ribbons? Yes. Are they CCR's? No, they are not. Don't care what the vendor says, they are not CCR's. Only Light-O-Rama makes the Cosmic Color Ribbon. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Mr. P Posted December 30, 2015 Share Posted December 30, 2015 The CCRs come complete with the ribbon, contoller, enclosure and a power supply already put together for you. All you have to do is plug it in and it will play hence plug-n-play. With other smart ribbons other then the CCRs you will have to buy all those components separately and put them together yourself.
