How many many Smart RGB Strips per ft vetically for a good show?

I was looking at building a simple vertical rig with RGB Smart ribbon strips for next year.

The strips would run horizontally and so I was wondering what would be the recommended strips per foot vertically and the spacing that people prefer between the strips.

I've never run them horizontally so I'm not an expert however, if you are creating a matrix, then probably closer together but I think it would be important to keep the distance between pixels both vertically and horizontally the same. Again, I've never done one so someone who has can probably offer better advice. Sort of depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

I agree with dgrant, no matter how many pixels per inch/foot/...(the further away your viewing audience, the further away your pixels can be) you choose, be sure that the vertical and horizontal spacing is the same.  Otherwise your shapes will either be stretched out or squished together.

I ran mine vertically and used 24-CCRs...giving a 24X50 matrix. I found I was able to produce some pretty amazing graphics/images on that size. The ribbons are 6" apart and the resulting view from the street gives nice clear pictures/patterns. I'd think the same would hold true horizontally. My Christmas display is on YouTube where you can see the 24X50 matrix at work: https://m.youtube.com/#/playlist?list=PL4esNyJceGbiSATMriLzSmrv51_8ZUhbn

I have a 12 strip Horizontal matrix on my roof and I use 3" spacing on center, It kind of depends on how far the viewing audience is from the matrix? The closer the viewer the closer the spacing. On my roof its about 40' from the street.
