I finally integrated the GE Color Effects Icicles into my display this year.  Controlling them using San Devices E681 and ELOR interface.

 

I built Differential Line Drivers / Receivers to run the Data Signal over the distance from the controller to the Icicle Strings.  Distance is about 30 feet.

 

In the middle of the wreath, there is a LED Matrix with about 10,000 RGB LEDs.  I use it to show videos that go along with the songs I play.  I built it.
