Starting channel on mega tree

Is there a good better or best point to put channel 1 on a mega tree. I planned on a clockwise channel arrangement. Single color 16 channels 48 strands

I run 2 strings per chan. #1 is on the left and straight across on the right facing the street, the right side goes around to the rear and the left goes toward the front. this way I am able to run two separate colors with one controler.

Sorry for the poor video.

I guess that's what it comes down to do I want channel one facing the street or on the back side. I didn't sequence anything that I had to have an exact start point. I guess this will be a coin toss. It's not like it would be difficult to change if I didn't like it

My starting point is in the back at center. Keeps a sweep/chase to a beat balanced IMO.

Starting center and ending center. But that's just me.

Oh, and I'm clockwise and counter clockwise on sweep/chase effects. :)

Channel 1, two strands at 6 oclock.  runs clockwise.  I program some songs with channels 5-12 only to the beat back and forth.  Looks kind of neat from the street. Also, channel 1-4 and 13-16 are connected to the 8 window frames and gives a different look when the channels fire!

  • 2 months later...

I now this post is way late but I do a 16 channel 2 color spiral meg tree and my starting point is on the right side center as the top right side center is where I start my 2 1/2 spirals at.

Its just a matter of taste as to what you like... There is no exact way of doin g it as unless you are standing at a very close certain place it will not look like it is center front etc. anyway...

what is your viewing range in degrees from it... 130, 100, 160 180 etc. and it depends on where the person or vehicle is viewing your show from as to ho it will look anyway..

+1 on Tom's back center - 12:00.

When I started, I bought Wowlights sequences & that's where they did it from. Now that I sequence more on my own, very glad that's the layout I have. Exactly because of the sweep effect. I use visualizer - but still I need to see it in my head. Just makes sense to me - but probably because that's all I've ever done.

Me too. Both one & 16 are on the back for a better sweep, but then again when the tree really begins to rock then it wouldn't matter where the start point is because the tree is a rocking at a very fast rate.

that's what I ended up doing. Centered on the back going clockwise as if you were looking down on the tree. I'd like to do more with the tree for next year but I'm not sure what.
