The 2015 Contest what about the 2014 winners

I really don't see the point of entering if no winners are ever announced... I don't care that it takes a long time - 370 entries... an average video length of 3.5 minutes... plus another minute and a half of scoring/organizing per video, that's 31 hours just to watch and score all the videos. Then there's cross checking top entries against each other to decide a winner.... With a January deadline, I wouldn't expect winners until spring, or summer... Ideally, just before the summer sale. But, announcing the 2015 contest 9 months later without announcing the 2014 winners? Not a smooth move.

It is not just a single person that has to watch and score all of the videos. They use a panel of employees. I doubt that all of them on the panel can watch all of the videos at the same rate.

While the system might be a little flawed it is better than nothing at all.

I would like to take part but I am not really doing a holiday display.

I get that. I volunteer as an event manager for a middle/high school STEM organization, and I run a high school web design competition that receives hundreds of entries. Coordinating a panel of judges from across the country who score the entries is no small task. We have 3 weeks from submission deadline to the physical on-site conference where finalists are interviewed and awards are presented. The judges are alumni in the industry and they're spending their free time as volunteers - a lot of evenings go into scoring all of the entries, so I completely understand the challenges and time involved.

Still.. it's been 9 months. What's the point of a competition if there is no winner? If they just want people to "show off" their displays so they have video, just say it - people will still submit.

It's been this way for years although I am a bit surprised as they usually at least post last year's winners a few days before they post this year's contest.  I'm sure they will post the winners soon with the annual apology of them being so busy improving our software...hardware...service...website... that they just couldn't get it done any sooner.

LOR is a very reputable, trustworthy and reliable company.  That's why I sort of find this annual contest a bit surprisingly shady.  If you don't have the time to run a contest, then don't run it.  If you want videos of our displays, just ask us for them.  But since this happens every year it sure looks like the contest is a ploy to collect videos, not recognize great displays... something this company doesn't have to do because they already have a loyal customer base.
