Using PE effects in SE

I open PIXEL Editor and chose Squence editor for my prop. When I do this the back boxes do not appear but the clear lines like in SE appear and I can't put any effects in these boxes.

I cant find anything in Matts tutorial that addresses this.

 

So do I have to always choose the PE to use the effects? Also when I use PE and save the intensity file and go to the sequence editor and bring up the sequence the effects don't show up.

 

What am I missing? Is there anything I can read up on this to help me learn the do's and don'ts between the two?

You can't modify pixel editor files in the sequence editor.  Anything done in the PE is stuck there, can be modified there, but only there.

If you select sequence editor for props those props have to be sequenced in the sequence editor
