Lights-On is Two Months Away!

Well actually two months out from last night, if you light up on Thanksgiving day.  :o
Time is flying by.

No pressure here. LOL
Heck I haven't really done anything. Been too busy all summer long. But I seem to do better under pressure. Let's hope this is the case this year.  :)

Santas Helper, after seeing your mega tree, well and PAPA6058's tree, I've been busy all summer twisting super strands together. My new mega tree won't be a Rohn tower tree like both of yours, but the same principle just utilizing galvanized rigid conduit in place of the tower. Most of my other new props are finished, but I still have hours and hours of sequencing to do. Just changing the songs I previously used is a bear. Had 16 bushes and 16 strands of mega tree tied together on one 16 channel controller. Now those same bushes and tree are using 83 channels. Plus adding a 8 channel spiral and a few other items.

WOW, SLOW THAT CLOCK DOWN!!

Yes Mega Arch,

I remember building super strands. Night after night building about 5 strands or so each night. Seemed like it never ended. But it sure is worth the extra effort when it's done.

You boosted your channels alot this year. I can feel your pain on that as well. Can't wait to see it in action this year.  :)

Not 2 months but this week.  But my xmas display is my Halloween display...other than changing out sequences.

I'm in a 2nd of 4 year plan on a LOR display.   Being in MN, sucks to setup xmas lights unless you do it in Oct because of cold and potential snow at end of Oct.

My goal is that once the display goes up in late Sept, nothing more is needed outside after that.

Down the road, will be adding  a large pixel wreath, smaller mega tree and some pixel fireworks burst.  With sequencing I can change from halloween to xmas colors.

Well I guess if you celebrate Thanksgiving this week and turn lights on for the Christmas display.

Better not turn 'em on that soon.

Will get us all into trouble....

And I did that last year Sarge.  :)

With the help from Daniel (Mega Arch in the Sooner shirt) and my brother Dan.

Can't believe it's only two months.  I do not feel prepared - but I usually don't and everything always seems to come together okay in the end.

I will say that I am excited for this year, but feeling slightly underwhelmed about the show.  Just not as hyped about it as I usually am, so I decided to jump back on the forums and try to focus on the show.  I haven't updated the show in the last two years because I'm simply out of electrical power - even with maxing out my breaker box (~60,000 lights).  Just looking for some inspiration... or Christmas spirit.

This will be our first year doing LOR.  We only have 16 channels, so it won't be a super-amazing display like some of y'alls, but it should be fun and is a step up for us since we normally have a static display.

I had lofty goals about creating a candy cane fence along the front yard perimeter, and PVC window frames, and tomato cage trees.  None of that has been done.  However, I have at least PURCHASED the tomato cages, and I've calculated how much PVC I'll need for the window frames.  That's something, right?

Very much so. You're headed in the right direction. (thumbs up) :)

  • 2 weeks later...

managed to get my 4 Arch's incorporated into my Halloween display..

Hung them on rope stretched out and Used for lightening etc... in my trees... for Christmas... leave them plugged into the same controller and lower the rope and just stake them with the rebar..

My (8) Mini Trees... covered with Thin Orange Plastic so the light shines threw with pumpkin faces painted on it... Christmas... just remove the plastic covers..

could just add hates to my singing monster faces from HC but will still be adding 4 singing trees this year..

You may not have problems with tomato cages... I Haven't had problems but I live in S. Cali and not much rain nor snow here for the last few years.... some have problems with them unless they are set up off the ground om PVC etc. you may consider pitting them on top of 4 or 6 pieces of short 2 X 4 to just get them off the direct ground before staking them down.
