Denny Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I am building a 36x50 matrix and using an ECG-P12S to control the grid. I would like to connect 3 strings of 50 pixels together for a total of 150 pixels per universe. I would like to zigzag this 150 pixel string back and forth to give me three rows of 50 pixels. Can I set up either the P12S or set up Nutcracker to control each string in this way? I have done up and down with 100 pixels on a pixel tree, but not sure how to set up three 50 pixel strings. Next question, Nutcracker refers to strings and strands. In this case of 150 pixels per universe, is a string 150 pixels and the strands are 50 pixels or is it the other way around? I can't remember how I classified it on the pixel tree. I am over analyzing this and confusing myself the more I think about it.
dkulp Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I would setup the P12S to do the zig zag. In Nutcracker that would then look like 36 strings of 50nodes with 1 strand per string all going the same direction. That simplifies the Nutcracker setup a lot.

Is a string considered 50 nodes and a strand is 150 nodes?
smeighan Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 if you connect three strings together of 50, then the result is 1 string of 150. You can setup as either12 strings of 150 with strands (folds) set to 3. This is so xlights does the zig-zag (which is anytime strands are greater than 1)OR as Dan says36 strings of 50 with strands = 1. This is if your controller does the zig-zag
Denny Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 Thank you both. I think I finally understand
