saxon Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Has anyone used 3000 lumens projector for virtual Santa or ghost ? was wondering if 3000 lumen, 2000:1 contrast too much? I know it is overkill and not needed but have had my eye on this projector and figured I could use it for other things when not using it as Santa. People have mentioned that the 1800 lumens that come in a deluxe Santa pack is great but could be brighter.
bbayjohn Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 My projector is 3000 lumens. Is very bright and a light can be seen threw the stretch lycra. This year I might mount it to the ceiling to fix that problem. If I can as we now have a guest in the dpare room.3000 lumes is handy for other projects as well.
saxon Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Thanks Bbayjohn I have seen that light in videos. I will project from a 2nd story window and viewing of course will be street level so I doubt I will have that problem. So you are saying the 3000 lumens with virtual santa worked out great other than seeing the projector light? This is my first projector project and I have heard people say "don't over think it", which of course I am.
bbayjohn Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 If you could afford it go for a short throw projector. So that in small areas you can still have a large projection
saxon Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Got my eye on a few short and ultra short throws but they are spendy! I think I will get the 3000, it can read straight from flash drive and has good marks - thanks.
Dennis Laff Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I used a 1500 lumens projector for virtual Santa in a window with rear projection for 3 years. Last year I switched to 3000lumens projector and everyone thought it was to bright did not look real switched back to the 1500 lumen not as bright but Santa looks more real just my opinion .
saxon Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Thanks Dennis- I was thinking that might be the case. I found some that have brightness controls. I will make sure the one I get has that feature. If not there is 2200 one I like too. Good input guys, thanks
