FM wireless transmitter..

Old Sarge

Recommended Posts

I Hope I didn't make a big mistake but just ordered this fm transmitter..

0.5 W Fail-Safe Long Range FM Transmitter - FS CZH-05B - Newly Revised: Dual Mode now with RCA Inputs from amazon..

I also ordered two different Inline t... a 10 dB and also a 16 to hopefully be on the safe side when it comes to output ..

I live on the side of a mountain about 4 mi or so from the Skunk Works, Boeing, Nasa etc. at Palmdale Ca. I don't want to get a call saying I am interfering with anything..  also am right under main commercial airline flight paths..

Do you that are in the know think I messed up or did the right thing on getting this for my new shows this year as well I can stream music to my patio easy with it..  If anyone has used this transmitter I was doing some reviews and it is suppose to be a good one for running for long periods of time and wonder if that is true or not..

Thanks

chuck

Since I joined this forum in 2008 there's been probably a couple hundred threads about FM transmitters. I've never yet read (or spoke) a bad comment about the CZH.

good deal...

I hope I dont have a problem.. I read a lot of reviews but that goes both ways...

that's why I also ordered the two different inline attenuators, a 10DB and a 16dB,loads to go with it.

So I can do a walk around and drive around my place to hopefully not interfere with anyone or anything...

If the signal is to strong I can add them to lower it down more.. Being on the side of a mountain I dont want the signal to go out no more then it has to for things to work just around my yard area... I am about 3 to 4 mi or so from the aircraft plants, S. Cali air traffic control center, plant 42 etc. and I know being higher... about 500 ft or maybe a little more the signal will carry out farther then if i were on the same level.

I just found out by doing more research... The FM transmitter is a good deal but the attentuators shown with it will not fit it.. the connections on the attentuator will not connect to it and allow the antenna to connect into the attentuator are the wrong connections.

Hopefully I will not need them so I will wait and see how it goes after I get it and set it up for a test run.

Looks like I have to make a couple orders for some diodes and make my own.... not hard to do just is easier to order them already made.. as my eyes arent what they use to be for soldering real small parts...lol

The CZH is a great buy, hassle free and easy to use. Be careful, don't ever plug it in without the antenna hooked up.

I did research and was told by a few it was a good choice before I ordered it.

I hope I dont have a prob with power from it.

I dont need the FCC, Boeing, NASA, The Skunk Works, , Northrup, The Air Force, S. Cali Air Traffic Control or any of the other companies At AF  Plant 42 which I can see down the hill from my patio knocking on my door...lol

I have been using the CZH for three years without an issue. Just put it on low power and you will be good to go.

I don't use that one, rather the EDM-RDS, however, no one has spoken badly of it (CZH) at all, so you made a good choice. Lots of negatives on the WHT so for anyone else reading this, stay far away from the WHT.

How to you put it on low power. I would like to lower mine. I can hear it from 1/4-1/2 mile away. Lol.

To put it on low power you have to unplug it, push the power button and hold  it and plug it in while pushing the power button.

cool... I am even playing around with a DJ program to for my little home radio station for when I want to play my own music out on my pool for when I have my BBQ and pool parties...

I was reading that the CHZ can be used for long periods of time without it having heating problems... I guess i will find out..

Hmmm you all are making me nervous. I have the WHT I got it for a good price on Amazon but now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I tested it and I was able to pick up a clear signal 1/4 to 1/2 mile away (with the standard "legal" antenna)...I left the house for several hours and when I came back it was still going strong. I guess the real test will be when I am using it several hours daily for several days around christmas.

There's a new guy here in my neighborhood who did his first show in 2014. He bought the WHT and after the first night, it failed. I didn't have a spare transmitter to loan him but I suggested overnight delivery of the CHZ from Amazon and that's what he did. He was very happy after that as it worked perfectly. The WHT came from LOR and I'm guessing they either replaced it or refunded. Not sure why they still carry it but maybe its a case that many of them work and a few that don't. Truly I don't know.

I have a CZH that we use year round.  It's hooked up to re-broadcast our favorite satellite radio station(s) throughout the home and property and remains on 24/7/365.  It's been running like this for 2-1/2yrs with zero problems.  Having said that, we always have a spare on hand for our show transmitter.  Almost everyone thinks it a great idea to have a spare controller or two or hand, but many of those same people have never given a second thought to what happens when a transmitter fails in the middle of the show.  It's just a jumbled mess of flashing lights without the music.

I hope I have as good of luck with my CZH as others have.. I also hope I do not end up having to make a attentuator for it.. Hopefully being about 800 ft higher then the floor of the valley where the air craft plants, Nasa, etc. are the signal doesnt make it to them.. I know there is a way to measure the legal power of it and that measurement is based on being about 2 maybe 3 meters from it..

Git it today... read the instructions, watched some u tube videos, connected it up. turned it on..

easy to connect and hook up took less then 5 minutes and that includes opening the box and unpacking it.

works very well all the way to the other side of the house... BUTTTT...

Cannot change the Frequency off 108.00

So already sent it back to Amazon for an exchange on it..

Old Sarge - Since you already returned it this kind of moot now but, were you able to set the hi and low limit of your frequency range? Just curious.

I could set the high and low power but that was all...

It would not change frequency's at all.

I called and talked to the company and went over the settings etc. it with them.

They told me to send it back as it was defective.
