bazman36
Hi fellow users. As the topic says, i have a cmb24 and channels 16 to 18 are turning the lights onwhen i connect the pigtails, rather than doing it via software. I didnt have a joiner so the wires were resting on the sofa and it slipped and black touched red by mistake, does anyone have any idea whatit could be thats turning them on straight away leds? or cmb24? thanks
EmmienLightFan
When black touched red you shorted out the mosfets and broke your CMB24D. triacs and mosfets tend to stay on when they fail. If you use those channels, you will need a new controller, but if you don't then just use channels around it. It is still handy to have though. You now have 7 RGB groups, not 8. LOR Staff
We can repair it if you like. Open a trouble ticket and we will get you an RMA going. Note that you'll have to pay the shipping BOTH ways, and may be charged up to a $25 repair fee.
godman
Well worth the time and Money to send them into LOR for repair.
EmmienLightFan
Do LOR repair them every time or do they sometimes just give a new one??? Lots of companies just give new ones instead of repairing them, but I always think it is must better to have the same one back and actually repair the broken parts. LOR Staff
Depends on what we have in stock. If we have a repaired/refurb CMB24, and depending on how backed up we are in repair, we would probably exchange this bad one for the repaired one and then repair it at our leisure. If we don't have any, we'll repair and send back. If the board is still under warranty, repairs are usually free. Otherwise there is up to a $25 charge per board. Shipping BOTH ways is the customers responsibility.
EmmienLightFan
If I had to get any of my stuff repaired, it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new one. Shipping cost $70 something to get it here. That as well as getting there would make it worth more than most of the stuff. It is good that you don't just chuck it and buy a new one, and instead repair them, even if you send another one back and send the original one to somebody else. LOR Staff
If you are handy with a soldering iron, have done circuit board rework before, and don't mind taking responsibility if you destroy the board completely, we can send you repair parts as well. The 3 parts that need to be replaced only weigh a couple of oz, so it would probably only be $10-$15. But you have to know how to replace the parts.
