EvilM0nkey
I have a set of these that are non DMX and they were a surprise deal. They are exceptionally bright. From the ground they easily light up the canopies of tall trees all around. Just a heads up if anybody wants a set. I'm going to buy a few and run them in my shows. They aren't weather tight so you would need to take that into consideration. Last year I just took them in when it rained. I'm not connected to these at all, just passing on a neat product. kiplorenzo
I have used these in my show... The 1 challenge... Buy as many as you will need the first time. I ordered 3 for my first year, they were great at projecting Stars on the house (https://www.vimeo.com/kiplorenzo/albums)%C2'> This last year I ordered 6 more... the whole DMX Channel line up on the new ones was a mess! Channel 1 is for Power/ Strobe. 2-4 were R,G,B, Ch 5 was for motor and 6 was variety. The first 3 had ch 1 2 3 as R G B, then 4-6 were effects and motor. the 6 new ones I ordered at the below 20$ range died this year. I will be retrofitting the broken units with RGB Floods inside the fixture. So it will be more of a lense than a moving fixture. Make sure on these that they are 20 watt, anything else does not show up well. I have found a way to make them waterproof, but still accessible incase something needs changing. EvilM0nkey
The DMX version is useless. Do not buy them. I finally got them out of the boxes to test. They work great in stand alone, but are 100% unresponsive to DMX inputs and don't even have dip switches to assign them. The servo motors are noisy, connectors are wired backwards and there is zero strain relief on the wires. The ones I bought from the brick and mortar store were much better quality.
EvilM0nkey
They were not good enough to spend money on for sure. One of them has gone down with a pulled wire. BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS! My Non DMX lights have a conspicuous 3 pin socket open on it's control board where the DMX can plug in. hmmm See if you can tell which one is junk. Junk Vs not junk. by Ross, on Flickr The one on the right has a much bigger servo, it's considerably heavier not to mention the strain relief on the wires and the cooling fan. EvilM0nkey
Aaaaand we have communication! Now if I can just get my computer to play nice with the universe I'll be in business.I love it when a plan comes together. So basically it cost me $22 to add DMX control to my old lights that were far better made and brighter than the junk ones I bought. Converted non DMX lights to DMX! by Ross, on Flickr
kiplorenzo
See Photo for Waterproofing. I bought Containers from the Container store...the hole is at the bottom as I project these towards the house.https://picasaweb.google.com/112214082692307028280/October32015#6201440406765402482You do have to seal the lid to the fixture. kiplorenzo
I did find a manufacturer that has these set as channel 2,3,4 for RGB and there is NO DMX Channel for Power. I did find some of these that require a DMX channel just to power them on. Here is the link: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/20W-RGB-LED-6CH-Crystal-Magic-Ball-Effect-Light-Disco-DJ-Stage-Lighting-US-Plug/32306536553.html They are what I ordered a long time ago from Amazon at a fraction of the price. I will be developing one of these to use one of Ray's Floods...So Colors will be unlimited, but Alas, no motors to move the stars:)
