EvilM0nkey
It's just that I'm freaking out. It just hit me that I basically have to scrap my entire show and start over from scratch. I'll be able to save some parts (about 6 channels per sequence). But this is:-My first year with my show on a 1 story house (the second floor was always a big part of the show)-My first year with 48 channels-My first year with gigantic pine trees in the front yard. I have a ton of work to do! Plus the pressure of being on the tacky light tour is there too. I don't want my show to look bad when I have hundreds of cars limos and buses passing by every night! LOR Staff
I try to make this point to everyone.... If for whatever reason you are NOT enjoying yourself, then don't do it. Remember, you owe no one except yourself anything. Don't do it because you 'HAVE to'. Do it because you LIKE to. Now, some people enjoy that little bit of stress that comes with the 'Oh geez, there is only 12 months to go!' The rush of getting something done can be a powerful motivator and (eventual) source of pride. However if you ever look at something that needs to be done and say 'Gee, I wish I could be doing X instead of doing this display thing', you may want to re-think. You are not being paid, so the roof over your head or the food in your tummy are NOT affected. If what you are doing is not pleasurable, why do it? mikewlaymon
You could do some really cool stuff with that roof - perfect angle to see it all from the street. The trees provide a many options as well.
robongar
I have a bungalow (ranch) similar to yours, including the garbage bin.I have what I think, a good display. 52,000 LED's last year. Adding another 12,000 this year. But, I didn't do it all in one year, you have slowly build it over years.Last year I outlined the roof a plus made up frames wishing a "Merry Christmas" " peace on earth" with 7 different colours of lights for the roof. EvilM0nkey
It's not a huge deal. Just a lot of work to re-do 3 years worth of work in a single summer!

Uh, DevMike, only 6 MONTHS to go, not 12....not to add any pressure to EvilM0nkey or anything.... EvilM0nkey, know how you feel though, adding channels and changes to props I've had to scrap all my sequences and start over. And with 6 months left I am WAY behind where I should be. mikewlaymon
The best part is that you have new neighbors, so they have no pre-expectations - do what you comfortably can this year, and impress the heck out of them next year with more stuff.

jstorms
Those trees would make great firesticks. In 2012 I moved into a new house and still pulled off a show. Not as many songs as I would have liked, but it turned out fine. Edited May 1, 2015 by jstorms
kiplorenzo
I learned to do the takedown slowly...I basicly rolled all the Deck Grid lights up still connected to the system under the deck in Tarp and Zipties. Next Year Unwrap the Tarps, Hang the 4 cases of Netlights... Deck Done... The Roof has been taken down and is in Plastic Crates under the deck also still connected. The Floods and Custom Driveway Lights are year round for Accent Lighting, This year I am adding Icicles to the 5 trees. OY they need to make Icicle Lights in bigger strings than 70! mpageler
I'm expanding from 32 channel faces only display to one that will add 3 rgb controllers. While the hardware/display contruction/setup taking more time, it's the sequences that's really been time for 30 halloween/xmas songs. So suggesting you pare by your display with several sequences are are done really well.Once you do the actually display setup, should be much easier on a 1 versus 2 story house.
