So my husband came up with the idea of becoming a non-profit (501©3) in order to get sponsors to help pay for the computer equipment. We started the process in January for the non-profit and I am thrilled to announce that our 501© status was approved by the IRS in record time! I submitted the application on March 13th and it was approved retroactively back to Feb 5th! We received the letter this past Saturday..Happy Happy Happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you researched how having corporate sponsors changes your status regarding music licensing? I don't mean to pee in your cereal, but you could be opening a huge can of Pandora's Box worms, especially if you acknowledge the corporate help in any public way.
