dangles--using

I did read the comments about the issues...just got mine and they are after the issues....so hoping they don't have the same issues.    But, when I got them there was nothing about how to use them.   I finally figured out that the soft core could be removed, but I didn't know that until I played with 1.    LOR needs to provide instructions on EVERYTHING they sell, regardless of how simple they may think it is.   I love their products, but this one just didn't follow through.

If anyone what's to know...remove the 2 ends and push the soft end out of the 2nd piece.   The soft end is split and you can push the cat5 thru to the connection, reseat the soft end after wrapping around the cable.

I know basics, but we do have "newbies" and I am one to the dangles.

You know, its one of those new names cause the op cant figure out what the common name is. Kind of like cores versus conductors. Dangles versus dongles, I bet.

If Darryl's correct on the OP's intended conversation topic, then:

To allow the dangles to be possibly daisy chained,

LOR doesn't know if you are installing 1 or 2 of the weatherproof RJ45 dangles onto your controller for connecting to your LOR or DMX network, so they provide the "soft core" to weatherproof the 1 that might not be in use.

Here's LOR's written instructions: (look on page 7):

((OK - it's not the same dangle as Darryl pictured - but same use...))

The problem people are having is that if it hangs out of the controller box it isn't waterproof. I used these and it's nice not to have to open up the box to connect the cable. I had mine hanging from the box and water would get in. I actually had ice inside of them.

I had water get in, from the top piece, in about a dozen of them last season. Filled them plumb full. (Side note: getting filled with water causes havoc with the RJ45 connectors and your comm signal) The heat-shrink and/or the plastic adaptors that join the cable to the housing aren't even close to being waterproof. If rain runs down the cable to the "waterproof" part you'll have problems.
