Jeff Messer
Looking for a good camera for recording at night that does not break my wallet. I like the 4k video and it does show up well at night. I am looking at two cameras and not sure which is best. The GoPro 4 black or AEE S71 16MP. I like the cheaper one and it does have zoom where Go Pro does not. Thoughts? Edited February 27, 2015 by Jeff Messer
wmilkie
I have a Sony Handycam cx430v I've been using; does a pretty fair job but it's still a little pricey I've heard of good results with GOpro but never tried them
k6ccc
The GoPro cameras make nice video, but they are very wide angle, and generally do not allow any manual focus and iris settings (both of which are quite useful to us). They guy who shot my 2014 videos used a GoPro for two of the angles and a Cannon DSLR for the other two angles. The GoPro had to be very close to what it was shooting. Jeff Messer
Just watched a video on youtube show the two cameras and what they can do. The two cameras are very close and they are the GOPro Black and AEE-71S. I went ahead and bought the EAA-71S. Thanks for all the comments.
kiplorenzo
I actually did a comparison:http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/35119-the-camera-can-make-the-difference-on-videos/ I like gopro, but to really get good shots, I believe lense and exposure controls make things better. Ron Boyd
Someone sent me a PM or e-mail and said they compared a High $$$ pro camera to a Canon Vixia H50 and H500. I was told, there was not very much difference in the High $$$ and the $300 Canon. I must have accidentally deleted the e-mail or I would post it here. Just thought I'd put that out here. CLD Kevin
I used a Canon Vixia too a few years ago. For $300 it did it's job and worked good. By now I use Sony HDR-CX900. Wayyyyy better than the Vixia especially for blinking lights at night. http://m.store.sony.com/products/27-HDRCX900~B
Ron Boyd
I'm sure it does do a lot better, I just can't justify the price tag when I'll use it to do the show and probably on vacation. Thanks for sharing though. Gives me something to study again.
