taking a break for a new hobby

This side track has been very interesting so far.   Its like an AA meeting.. (maybe)  I have not sequenced lights for 40 days.

These little micro controllers and relays will be controlling Air cannon solenoids,  sound cards, and lasers in a Laser tag arena.

I did buy a set of Ping golf clubs and driver so looking forward to getting back in the swing of things.

I have been modifying my set up.

I am trying to get it down to days instead of weeks.

Once that is done, I am looking into dumb RGB.

Why dumb Mike?

Be careful of the 20mw laser output; should be like 5mw to avoid eye damage when they look into them.

I'm designing a laser maze that will probably trigger a LOR sequence if they complete it successfully.

We shall see.

Why dumb Mike?

Time. Money.

My work hours have increased my pay hasn't.

Smart pixels aren't cost effective for me.

I can accomplish a decent light show with LEDs and trim the difficult to decorate areas with dumb RGB.

Any spare money needs to go towards retirement.

The sooner I can retire, the better.

OK.

Retire? I will not see that for another 10 years.

At the rate I'm going it will be at least 25 more years!

I keep spending my $ on lights!! :-)

Amen to that!

Just make sure that when you retire you leave money in the budget for lights and controllers.  Otherwise you will finally have the time to play but no money to play with.  Come on Lottery!

I'm taking a break from programming for two reasons.

One, I'm completely ditching my current setup for a new layout.  I will, (Hopefully) be adding not only my RGB mega tree I built last year, but never got into the display, but I will also be adding several large matrix panels.

Two: I am busy building and laying the foundations for my Christmas display supply business.  I have my Pixclips, snowflakes and candy canes sold through Seasonal Entertainment right now which nearly forced me to not do a show last year..... BUT NOW I am adding dozens and dozens of other display items this Winter/Spring to my lineup.  Once I get the raw material in stock it will be nothing but non-stop work cutting and milling.  It will take quite a while to turn over 1/2 MILE of aluminum into Christmas decorations.  Yes... I said one half mile of aluminum.  And this will possibly be the small order of material.  I am hoping to do a larger one later in the spring.  Maybe a full mile.  Oh and yeah, I also have yet another pixel clip coming out too.  Luckily all I have left to do on that project is verify the pre-production run of clips conforms to the specifications on my design print.  And testing... lots of testing.  So very busy here.

A new adventure... That sounds like fun.
