C++ crash ?

LOR 3.11.2 on Win XP.

This runs two networks, one highspeed to the 12CCR tree, and a second standard network running 4 controllers.

Everything had been running fine normally. I have two shows in the schedule run ever day and leave the system on at all times. I have noticed the show crash about once per week which results in a C++ application crash message on the monitor. Once I clear that error message, the scheduler recycles itself and restarts the shows.

It appears to occur when I edit show elements during the day.  I first stop the show gracefully - go into editor and make changes, then restart the show scheudule. That night will get a failure which once I clear the error will restart and not have any more problems (until the next time I unload/reload).

Any thoughts - Should I restart the XP system between shows ?

  • 2 weeks later...

For what it is worth, the crashed the few times this season. I realized quickly that if I restarted the system, then loaded the control panel/show - it would not crash. Only when the show had been running for a few days, and IF I unloaded / edited somthing / reloaded the show would it then crash  - So, leave the show and schedule alone once you set it. If you do change - restart windows was my solution. (of course, restarting windows is often a solution.

Never had a problem, but I have my show computer set to reboot at 3:30 every afternoon.  Don't know if that helps or not, but several years ago I read a recommendation to that effect, so I have mine set to reboot.
