christmascrossing
Hi- How do you find other Christmas light shows in your area? How do you promote your Christmas show? Or is it just by word of mouth? Has anyone started a list of Christmas light shows in their area? How has that worked out? I'd love to go to one place and plan my Christmas light tour, but we don't have anything like that in our area.Perhaps I need to start it, but not sure what the best approach is. Thanks-Jeff
MikeERWNC
I am the only one until you get to Doug's house in Cleveland, TN but that is over an hour drive.I would love to go see some other shows, but I am usually too busy at night handing out candy canes. There are some amazing guys and shows within two hours of me.Thanks to this forum for bringing us together.
viennaxmas
There may be a local site - in our area it is Fairfaxchristmaslights.com which lists a lot of the displays in the vicinity
jfuller8400
Nextdoor Neighborhood is a new social media site that's got a Holiday Lights map. Otherwise our local TV/Radio/Newspapers compile listings of displays from user submissions. Joel
PreludeRM
In Canada we just started up a new site. www.lightenupcanada.com we had been running lightenupcalgary.com for a few years and David decided to go country wide. people can post their places on the map. BryanZ
Local news websites or word of mouth. I have a tendency not to advertise but my wife, OTOH, loves to.
stokesy80
Thanks Ryan, Going to see how Canada does in the next 2 years, Calgary has generated enough to keep itself running at no extra cost the last 3 years and will run Canada now too. I tried to just do a map page but the forum just fits in well and there are not many Canadian forums and it is nice to meet up with people in the same cities. Nice thing is the map is always up to date and gets wiped clean at the end of the year. I get tour companies and everyone emailing all the time about the map. Maybe a USA one is possible, once setup it is easy to manage. I am a bit surprised there is not one...Must be one somewhere. christmascrossing
There's a few nice light displays around here (Eastern Iowa), and some come and go through the years. A few people have used Facebook to "advertise" their shows. I see PlanetChristmas.com has on their forum a Christmas Groups by State / Country, which by the looks of the threads, seem outdated. Maybe I'll try to start something locally (Eastern Iowa, Western Illinois). I enjoy looking at others' lights as much as I like putting up my own. kelly jett
hey jeff,a visitor came to my display on Saturday night and showed me and app on his phone for light displays. it's just called "LIGHTS". it uses gpsand anybody can put in display that they see. he was nice enough to put my info in. I haven't had the chance to check it but he said once you add your info that it posts within 48hrs. you can put in your address, website, email (I think) and a brief description. he should me our local map and there were quite a few pretty close. may be worth looking at also you can post your display on "Christmas light finder". it's another way to see other crazy folks like us good luck Kelly
