Huff and Puff... vs Mega Tree

Ok, so you read the title and figured I had a tangled mess of wires and broken pixels and led's in my front yard.  Surprisingly, not the case.  We had quite a wind storm here and I am really proud of how two of my mega trees held up.

I built one tree for my father, it's 16 feet tall with, 24 straps of pixels, and I built one for myself, a 10 foot tall 16 strap mega tree.  Both of them have my rolled square aluminum tubing base rings with center post supports and my milled hook heads, and were not externally guyed.    I realized at work while it was mid way through a major windstorm and I had forgotten stake both trees down.

Surprisingly they both did fine.  What is most telling is that at my father's farm he has an anemometer on one of the nearby buildings.  The peak gust it recorded, 87mph.  For our area, that is huge!

Would I leave them not staked down again, no not a chance, but at least I know they can handle it.

So, your saying that the lower ring is not on the ground or tied down. and so it just blew around the upright pole? Wow my first year I didnt use good enough stakes and the ring was bouncing all around. I froze my arse off going out and restaking the ring down.

There is a "#" in the middle of the base ring that is connected to be not only the ring, but it serves as a platform for the pipe flange that holds the center post. I'll post a pic tomorrow. It's a self contained system. I can pick it up and move it anywhere I want with out disassembling it. Right now it's sitting on my concrete driveway.
