Sheldon_15
It's not much but it makes me feel accomplished!Sheldon Mizell a senior at GHS is paying it forward this holiday season. Mizell created a 5,000 light Christmas display using materials donated by people all across the country. When visitors drive by they should tune to 91.5 F.M. to hear the music. Mizell says, “It is anything from old school classical Christmas music to modern day music.” Mizell was inspired by the “Light-O-Rama” website which challenged him to create a light show for the community. The people of the forum provided donated materials to Mizell who want to create light shows. “I collected $300 dollar controllers and boxes and boxes of lights from people across the country. I believe that I have collected over $2000 in donated materials for this project.” Mizell stated. “The most challenging part was the programming and sequences.” Mizell spent hours coordinating the project to connect with his lap-top. The blinking lights are synchronized to the music. The house is located at 620 Lincoln St. in Greenwood, Arkansas. The lights and music will be running Sun-Thur. from 5:30-10:30 and Fri-Sat. from 5:30 - Midnight. Please be sure to pull to the side of the road when viewing the lights and be safe. Mizell would like to thank his sister, Sierra Pittman for helping and providing a home for the display. Mizell is surprised that a small idea that he had turned out to be such a great project for the community. “The whole start of the donation of all of the lights and Light-O-Rama equipment not started by me asking to buy some used Christmas lights to get off of their hands. Then it turned into boxes and boxes of brand new stuff.” Mizell stated. Edited December 10, 2014 by Sheldon_15
