Rickster
My first year I used that same transmitter here in Wisconsin and it worked fine even at below zero temperatures. I use a different transmitter now because I heard of problems with the whole house unit.

George Simmons
Many LCD displays don't fare well in below-freezing temps. EDM advises users with their LCD models to keep them from freezing. Just about every transmitter on the market out-performs the Whole Room model.
SparkDr
Just about every transmitter on the market out-performs the Whole Room model. Whole Room model.....snicker, snicker. I know I shouldn't encourage George, but that's just too damn funny, right there!
chandalen
LCD's dont like cold. Electronics LOVE cold. Electronics HATE moisture. I'm At Ft Drum (north of Syracuse NY) and it gets freggin cold here. MY LOR units are all outside, and I have never had an issue with them. I have also (silly me) left numerous LCD monitors in regular storage. I have never had an issue with any of my LCDs. However, the whole home is not for outside use, so I would be worried about condensation more than the LCD.
dgrant
I new LOR person right close too me, his brand new WHT, a week old from LOR, died massively. With all the negative reviews on them, have to wonder why LOT still sells them?

viennaxmas
I new LOR person right close too me, his brand new WHT, a week old from LOR, died massively. With all the negative reviews on them, have to wonder why LOT still sells them? It is the only legal transmitter mentioned throughout this forum (if not modified). It has an FCC ID and complies with Part 15. EDM and Ramsey get around it by selling kits a user has to assemble and there are some exceptions in this case not requiring FCC certification but the user is required to ensure That what he build complies with FCC Part 15. All the Chinese models do not fall into this category, they are pre-assembled and a lot of them are producing and interference in other frequencies. The next "legal" fully built model starts at around $1,200..... LOR simply wants to avoid any legal problems. If the WHT works for you - great! dgrant
His, the screen died and totally quit. A whole week old. I was running all over the local areas here trying to find another but no joy and I don't have a spare.
