Pixels strips from Holiday Coro - Do I Need to waterproof ends?

I was wondering if  I need to waterproof the ends of my pixel strips that are not being connected to my controller.  The 3 wires continue out of the strip with a connector that have 3 pins exposed.  This is so you can connect an additional strip.  Do I need to protect these from the elements? 

Second question, if I cut them off, do I need to waterproof the cut with silicone?

I don't leave them bare I tape them up. I Cut the ends off and tape them if I do connect  them together I don't use the plug I will hard wire them,

I folded mine over and zip tied them pointing down so that moisture runs off. No problems yet with this method.
