aesl1982
So I'm already looking into next year and Im going to add arches for sure. Thinking I want ccr arches but I like the all in one smart ones LOR has. I'm not a big diy/soldering guy. Question is does any one know the calculations for the arches with the ccr strip being 16'4" I wanna use one strip for two arches and have four total. But how long will my pvc need to be to get 8'2 of a ccr on it with the bend. Just don't want alot of extras hanging in the grass Edited December 4, 2014 by aesl1982
k6ccc
Suggest CCPs instead of CCRs. More on this tonight. Gotta run...
lightzilla
I would go with Lor's ccps instead for arches. 1 ccp controller with two strings can make 4 arches. Each arch has 25 pixels, or buy 2 ccp controllers & still make 4 arches but each arch will have 50 pixels. Also used that "No Dig Lawn Edging" because it has holes & the pixels fit nice & snug. Looks like this.... http://www.google.ca/aclk?sa=l&ai=CfapNNLZ_VPPzJ8OVpgON9oCoA5n4zqUGida7paABkbye5p4CCAYQASC2VCgCYP2I8YDIA6AB55uw1wPIAQepAgha0zjrgK0-qgQnT9C27FjRGYQK-uwOF3PfsGXW4XO6t9j4fIQHdsrbTzVLY484n8jOgAWQTsAFBaAGJoAHgeTPKJAHAagHpr4b4BL_1_H3jf7J8U8&sig=AOD64_1ghUCFOBykBbdGozs__ixf8d43Dw&ctype=5&rct=j&q=&ved=0CJ8BEPQO&adurl=http://www.lowes.ca/landscape-edging/designer-6m-black-no-dig-landscape-edging-roll_9944368.html%3Faf%3D3632%26cse%3D3632&cad=rja ...this shows the Lawn Edging I used one ccp controller & make 4 smaller arches out of the 2 strings. It snows here & so I lifted them about 10" off the ground & the 1ft of snow we had covers the 2x4 I put the arches on. I then added ccp strings to Christmas Potted Urns & I have a pine looking bush in the front of the arch but centred. They look real & look cool too. Some folks put that white vinyl dryer hose over the arches to spread the light more even but I used white duct tape & it reflects nicely but also the Creator adds His work & the snow makes for a natural "Dryer Vent Hose" & spreads the light evenly. That is my opinion. Edited December 4, 2014 by lightzilla

aesl1982
U made ur arches with the lawn edging or u put edging on the pvc? What dimensions for the arches allowed 25 bulbs to work right
k6ccc
OK, now that I'm not running to catch my commuter train, here are some more details. I built 6 arches this year using CCPs. Each arch uses a 10 foot piece of 3/4 inch PEX tubing with the CCPs drilled into the back side of the tube - illuminating the inside of the tube. There are 50 pixels in arch so I have a total of 300 CCPs. The pixels are 2 inches apart leaving about a foot at each end to slide over the rebar stuck into the ground to hold them in place. In my opinion, the arches look great. The CCPs rather than CCRs allows you to make the spacing whatever you need.
George Simmons
I used 1" white PEX tubing to encircle the front and sides of our yard, and also to outline my light shed this year. I've got 50 CC Pixels per 10' piece and for my taste and application that looks about right. I really like the look of drilling the pixels into the PEX and highly recommend it also. I like the way the color diffuses and the fact it isn't as blindingly bright as the pixel itself is.

aesl1982
Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. I'll look into the pex tubing
Box on Rails
I used 2 CCRs and love my arches. This is the 3rd year I have had them and I use PEX tubing. the CCRs are attached with Zip ties. Each arch is 8 foot long.
lightzilla
U made ur arches with the lawn edging or u put edging on the pvc? What dimensions for the arches allowed 25 bulbs to work rightIf your talking to me my ccp arches are 4ft long & about 24" or 26" tall. I cut the "No Dig Lawn Edging " between hole 27 & 28 & fasten that to the 2x4 & then I overlaid the edging with (White Duct Tape) to reflect the light better (& it does), & then I fill in the remaining 25 holes with ccps. The best way is to use a full length 2x4 at 8 feet & attach the first two arches that way, & likewise for the second two arches. For my small yard the smaller arches, the White Duct Tape & the No Dig Lawn Edging works best for me. Quick & fairly easy either way you do it. If you watch these two videos you will see my arches in action. Sorry my video camera doesn't don't do the Matrix justice. Looks cool in person.
