Lights going out when computer "sleeps"

No sleep.  No sounds.  No screen savers.  Keep it simple and clean.  Set the power settings to full power setting and let it rock all season long.

This reminds me of the story of the blonde. She tells the doctor that it hurts when she pushes really hard with her index finger into her cheek. Doctor told her to quit doing that and the pain will go away. Otherwise Ditto Jeffl.

You can turn off the monitor and let the computer work.  It can be done old school (physically shut off the monitor) or new school, adjust the options in the control panel power options (assuming a Windows OS).

Go into the power options located on the screen saver tab. If your show runs for 3 hours set it for 4, if it runs for 4 hours set it for 5 hours. You just have to remember each night to wake it up prior to the show start time. Just another thing to remember though.

I actually re-start my show machine after the show is over each night, and manually put it to sleep after. I then wake it about 30 minutes prior to showtime, open all E1.31 controllers and make sure they are connected and functioning properly, connect to the DMX listener, start an animation sequence I have (all pixels at 20%) and make sure everything is up and working properly.

This procedure will also work minus the E1.31 controllers and listener if you are not running those type of lights. It's just my ritual each night.

Ditto to the leave-it-on-all-the-time camp and a charter member of the turn-off-everything-else-on-the-PC camp also.

Must be nice to be home at that time.  Except for the weekends, I'm just leaving work when the show starts.

Put me as another on in the leave it on crowd.  The show computer, and all the landscaping controllers are powered 24x7x365.  I do take the computer down for an hour once a year to clean the dust out of it.

What is the purpose of that?

Screen saver is no problem, show should still run.

I do have mine restart in the middle of the night automatically so it is fresh the next day.

If you want your PC to sleep, set the sleep timer for 1 hour more than your show runs. It won't sleep until your show is complete, thus, no lights go off.

Just make sure to wake the PC before show time.

Another 24/7 max power setting . I use a lappy and have set it to do nothing when the lid is closed. So it just sits there, doing its business.
