Paul C
Question, could I use a capacitor bank in parallel with my lighting mains to reduce the voltage drops on those circuits when the Christmas lights shimmer? I know that they are used to start fan motors and such, but could they be used to condition the line so that my inside lights don't flicker along with the sequence. .Thanks. Mega Arch
You may have a loose neutral or ground wire in your electrical panel. Your inside lights should never flicker. Capacitor banks are not needed, wrong application. The only voltage drop issues would be how far away your controllers are when plugged into a receptacle using an extension cord. Keep it short and try to use 12awg to the controller. Voltage drop usually won't affect the lights after the controller as its just like dimming them. Good luck. k6ccc
As Mega Arch said - NO! You need to be looking for electrical problems that could include:Too small of a service drop to your house from the power company,Bad connection in your panel (any one of the wires),Bad connection at one or more outlets. If you are not qualified to test these (and from your question, I assume you are not), call an electrician.
