recognizes units individually but not together

I'm using a larger laptop this year and have challenges.  When I auto configure each unit individually the green light burns steady.  When I try to daisy chain them, unit 2 down stream won't get recognized and the green LED won't stay on steady.  It just blinks.  I've reset unit ID and it seems to work.  Anyone got an idea to fix?

Thanks, Mark

Most likely you have a cable problem.

If you bought your cables, make sure you didnt buy cross-over cables.

If you made your cables, double check your pin config

The Blue and Blue/White are the critical pair in LOR.

(Assuming you use this standard for wiring)

I chased this issue for an hour this year.

Bum cable..

The cat 5 that feeds unit 2 is ok.  When I hook unit 2 cup by itself and refresh it is recognized and the green light stays on.  When I daisy chain, unit 2 green light flashes.  It won't burn steady

If you are 100% sure on your cables ..

What LOR dongle are you using? If you are running the high speed dongle, what speed are you running at?

If you are at 500K, then try slowing it down and see if they will link then...

If you have G3 and older controllers, you won't be able to run them on a 500k network. If you drop it to 57.6 and you get solid status lights, then that is the problem.

my controllers are both CTB-16PC

I'm not sure what a dongle is.  It all worked ok last yea.  I didn't purposely change the speed, nor do I know how.  Although this is my 4th year, I'm really a newbie and in over my head like most things I do.

I'm starting to agree with Bob here. It does sound like a bad cable, somewhere.

It's also possible that you have some dirt or other 'crud' in the RJ45 cable or even the cable itself. Quite possible that you even have a loose RJ45 jack.

I changed the cables around in controller 1 and they now are recognized. Thanks for you folks help.   Earlier I changed the ID # on unit 2 to unit 3.  I'm scared about changing it back.

I'm sure there will be more challenges...stay tuned.

You might want to change the unit numbers back or you will have to go update all your sequences.

Glad you got it working. However, I would still be suspect of the cables. When I get some time I will tell you about my experience this year with a cable issue. Afterwards, you will know why I am still suspect of the cables you have out

I cleaned all cable contacts and recepticals on LOR controller and all are now recognized.  I'm getting error messages when I try to play a show.  The music sequences can't be located.  I had same problem last year.  I've spent all the time I have but no solution.  I'm putting up a test chase scene to at least be lit up for now.  Next weekend I might have time to try again.  I need to attend a school to learn about this stuff.  I'm in way over my head.

thanks, Mark
