ItsMeBobO
Somehow I have 2 controllers where the jacks have mysteriously stopped working. I am stumped and not all that happy right now. They dont appear to be pulled away from the board and they dont have any crossed or bent wires inside. I have reset both controllers and made no progress. At first I thought I could re-chain them and make the failing one the end of the line. But a second one is now showing the same problem. I have changed out the Cat5 and am completely sure its something wrong with the jack. How do I fix this?
JeffF
Try the RJ11 port if you can. At least then you'll have a better idea if it's the RJ45 jack or communications chip.
plasmadrive
Hey Bob.. my turn.. http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/32313-running-lor-controllers-when-one-data-jack-is-bad/
ItsMeBobO
Working outside past 1am last night as it was finally nice weather. I had to unmount the two controllers and replace them with spares I had from an uncompleted project. The two I pulled had been rewired to have a single power cord so were wired to each other and could not be separated. The two replacements have 4 power between them as usual. That part of the display is up and checks out but I still have 3 more props to place.. almost there. My planned opening night is Sunday. When I get a chance to breath I will try to diagnose the broken ones. I dont have any RJ11 around as I have not had a wired phone in the house for years. I do hope that will fix it. bob_moody
BobO, Just out of curiosity and for my own edification, you said the two you pulled had been wired for a single and could not be separated. Curious minds gots ta know....why can't they be seperated? Bob(no O....lol)
ItsMeBobO
Only one power cord for the two controllers. I had rewired them to power from a single cord right and left and over to the second controller right and left. No plug on the second one.
bob_moody
Ah ha.. ..well now I know....thanks for the reply. I run several of mine from a single and didn't understand. Sure seems to be a lot of RJ45 jack failures posted this year???? Bob
Max-Paul
Piker!! With the exception of 2 controllers. All of my controllers power is daisy chained. Only one power plug for it all. Amazing how many controllers and lights you can power off of one outlet when all of your lights are LED. I better put in the smiley face so you know that even though I speak the truth Bob, I am messing with you. I am the piker in relationship to what you know..
